Just curious, for transfer students is there really an unspoken rule of thumb that you get accepted if you have a 3.5?

It might be impossible for us to find out for sure, but in the last 3 years of this forum there has not been a single liberal arts transfer applicant with a GPA > 3.5 who has been denied. If there was, they didn’t advertise it.

I don’t think you should assume there’s a guarantee, but it’s safe to assume that the probability is extremely high if you have a GPA in that range.

gabbybelzer- I got into my first choice PSYC(liberal arts) with a 3.5 gpa & 30hr from local cc. Someone told me when I was waiting, that 3.5 was almost unspoken acceptance. However, each semester I would take 5 classes to show a heavy case load(no easy classes). I worked very hard on essays. Like Inmotion12 said, don’t assume there’s a guarantee, but it’s safe to assume that the probability is extremely high if you have a GPA in that range. Keep your gpa up, and work hard on essays, because you never know. Good luck.
