Is there really a chance to get off the waitlist?

I applied to the CEHD. I have a 25 ACT and a 3.3 GPA. I have been accepted to several other schools, and I want to know if I should just move on from Minnesota. I am hoping that someone can offer some information on previous years and chances of getting off the wait list.

There are a few things that I already know and would like to note. Minnesota does not have a wait-list for each individual college, there is just one giant wait-list for all 7 schools. Additionally, because they admissions staff already knows that not everyone is going to attend, they significantly over admit students. So, my thinking is very few students are going to get off the wait-list. I’ve tried calling, but they are rather unhelpful in terms of handing out useful information.

If anyone else can please shed some light on this grim situation I would appreciate it.

What you know about the waistlist is correct. If many accepted students decline their confirmation to the U that is when the waitlisted students will have their chance. Good luck!
