I know that the terms I'm using are vague, so here's a little bit of my situation to clarify. My mom got into Columbia in the 1980's (1980s?), and attended for her entire freshman year. However, my grandparents hit some financial problems and she had to transfer to a different school in the middle of the next year, as financial aid really wasn't what it is today. She stayed at the new school for the rest of her undergrad career, and didn't attend Columbia for her M. D. Would this fact at all affect my chances if I were to apply to Columbia?

I don’t think that you would benefit from that.

Alright thanks. I was just curious.

not considered a legacy, legacy is a strict term for children of cc/seas graduates (not barnard, gs, or a graduate school). but any ‘connection’ to columbia is worth mentioning.

I think she would have had to graduate from Columbia to have you count as a legacy.
