Is this a bad plan?

I have decided to go to the University of Iowa, and my ultimate goal is to get into business school. I am only a pre-business student there, so there is risk, but my parents did not want me to take out 25k + in loans to go to Marquette( I was direct into Business there). I turned down Kansas and ASU as a direct admit…not sure how I felt about their reputation and b-schools.

My backup plan ( if I do not get into Iowas b-school) is to transfer into Alabama’s business school. I believe their website says you only need 2.5 gpa to transfer into it. It would probably cost full price, but it would be the same price I would’ve had to pay at Marquette. The idea here is that I will avoid debt if I get in at Iowa, and I will only have debt if I have to end up transferring.

Is this a good plan? Does anyone know if it is really that easy to transfer into Bama’s business school? I need to make sure I have a backup plan if everything falls through at Iowa.

It seems like it might work Maybe you can answer a question for me. Why did you apply to Kansas and ASU if you were uncertain about their B schools? I don’t understand why you would apply and then throw them out based on uncertainty.

I guess I should clarify…I did not actually apply to them, but I would’ve been a direct admit at both. To be honest I didn’t want to settle for those, but now I’m not sure if I made the right choice. Iowa is risky, but I love Iowa and felt like I have a good chance there. Kansas may be another backup option as well

I missed direct admission at Iowa by 1 ACT point, and KU and ASU would’ve directly admitted me for it (my ACT is 25, which is not very good). My gpa is much better- almost 3.9

Ah. Got it. If you love Iowa that much then go there and make sure you work hard to get into the B school. Good luck.
