is this a bit of reach

<p>I just wanted to know if i have any chance at all at UofC EA next yr.I'm a rising junior going to apply next year. If you guys have any advice on improving my chances dont hold back.</p>

<p>Race: Chinese (sucks to be azn for colleges lol)
Scores below
SAT Math 760 Verbal 650 Wrting 720
SAT II: Math II 770 US History 710 Chemistry(taking soon ~650)</p>

<p>GPA: 3.6 unweighted (could be 3.7~3.8 by end of yr) dont know weighted
Rank: top 5% probably 15out of 539
School: public, rarely ever sends grads to top schools maybe 1 or 2 yrly.
Taking 3AP this year and 2 online. Planning to take 5~6 next yr.
Also took 3 college courses at community college. A's in all 3.</p>

Varsity Track
Varsity Volleyball
School Ambassadors
Sciencefair
Volunteered at local library 150hrs.
Planning to go out for football next yr.
Business internship during summer.</p>

<p>I got in with less of your stats, but a higher GPA. Chicago is one of those schools where an essay counts more than any score (except maybe GPA).</p>

<p>Don't worry about it. You're fine as you are. Worry about applying to Chicago when the year is actually over. A good way to improve your chances is to (look at this very closely) focus, learn, and achieve as much as you can. Worrying about statistics screws you over, as it plagues you with doubt and anxiety.</p>

<p>Essays even count more than GPA in some instances. What counts more is how one challenged oneself at one's particular school and how one did therein. If one took a path of lessor resistance, and has a high GPA, that will not have the impact of a more rigorous course load and a somewhat lower GPA. </p>

<p>It looks like you are going beyond what the school is offering in order to challenge yourself, U of C will like that.</p>
