Is this a good common app essay topic?

Is facing religious persecution for the first fifteen years of my life and then moving to USA to practice religious freedom a good topic or religion is not a good topic to write an essay about. I can go into the details if someone needs them to give me an advice.

If you use it, make sure you write about YOU-- how it forced you to grow.

I think it would be too easy to write to instruct the reader about how awful this experience was. That does nothing to get you admitted to the college-- to show the reader that you would be a good addition to the student body.
