I fix computers a lot for pay and for friends. I could write about my experiences dealing with both strangers and those whom I am familiar with when I'm fixing their computers?

Preface: I am a high school senior, who is in no way specially qualified to critique you or your ideas. The following is simply an account of my initial thoughts upon hearing the preliminary idea. So, basically, I'm just some average guy commenting as a general member of the student populus.

ANYway...I don't particularly like it. Unless it is something you are uber-passionate about, it sounds like it could get boring fairly quickly. Once again, just my ramblings, so take it or leave it.

Most of my essays were just talking about activities I do; partially my experiences with the activities and partially why I do them, so I think that essay can work. Remember, any idea can make a great essay, it's what you do with it that makes the difference. I say, write the essay and then decide whether or not it's revealing enough / exciting enough.

alright thanks guys!!

Your topic is really only ~5% of your essay's worth, imho. You can write about anything and as long as you do so in an interesting, engaging manner that showcases certain qualities, you'll be fine.

The topic sounds reasonable to me--that is, it sounds like it will give you an opportunity to be personal, detailed, honest and revealing.

consumer behavior can provide great material...i think it can work as topic

i would write about anything you're passionate about. or something you can fake passion with.
