thks everybody

Which state do you live in? The publics may be more selective with out-of-state students making your list mostly reaches. But, I wouldn't drop U Penn at this early stage. I think 10 schools is a good number for applications: 5 reaches, 3 matches, 2 safeties. But, in the early stages a list of 20 or 25 is ok. You should identify more matches and safeties.

Others to look into:
Syracuse
Villanova
American
SUNY Buffalo (if NYS resident)
Clarkson
U of Richmond
Gettysburg
Franklin and Marshall
U of Vermont

i live in california

USC, Claremont McKenna, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz have strong business programs. You might also consider U Colorado Boulder, Wake Forest, U of Pittsburg, Penn State, U of Arizona, U Texas Austin.

Your extra curricular activities are impressive and you are an excellent student. Most of the schools on your list are among the best in the country. You chose very selective colleges.

Retaking the SAT might help. Most colleges use the highest math, critical reading, writing scores on any of the tests.

The IPEDS COOL website will give you information about financial aid and admissions standards.
http://nces.ed.gov/IPEDS/cool/index.asp
Type the name of the school and then look for the tab at the top of the page that has the information you want.

The college descriptions at the back of the US News Best Colleges issue will tell you the percent of students from out of state. For example, 72% of the students at UVA are in-state. Page 112 ranks business programs.

If your SAT score is above the 75th percentile for a college, then it is a safety. If your SAT is below the 75th and abobe the 25th (in the middle) then it is a match. If your SAT is below the 25th percentile but within 75-100 points of the 25th, then I would say it is a realistic reach. If it is a public school and you are OOS, then you should check the percent in-state enrollment. This is just a general rule of thumb.

y how is American?
also u gave me good schools, but i prefer more diversity
like 65% max of one minority
is there any good business schools you knw of which are more diverse and not on my list

American-the mid-range SAT is 1150-1350. It is 78% white, 11% Hispanic and African-American.

UNC Chapel Hill, U Maryland College Park, UVA, Rutgers, and Syracuse have a lot of diversity.

american is 67% white

If you live in California, it doesn't make any sense to apply to Michigan, Virginia, and UNC. It's much tougher at all those schools, and you are getting just as good as an education in state for much less. Stick with the UC system.

yea but UC Berkeley is the only good UC school for business

Riverside and Santa Cruz - as someone else mentioned, have strong Business programs. And you could probably transfer to Berkeley easier if you want to from those schools.

That's a great list you have sonicpwr. I would remove UCSD since they do not have a B school and I would replace it with Indiana-Bloomington (Kelley). Indiana has a top 10 B-school and is a great university with a gorgeous campus and a fun and laid back student body.

Otherwise, your list looks good. For most of those schools, you are going to have to improve your SAT. by a couple hundred points.

r u sure UCSD doesnt have undergrad business programs???
i heard it does
y which UC's do have undergrad business programs??

I think you can get into Berkely and its closer to home that UPENN...This is your Undregrad, UPENN even if you get in probably wont give you the money unless thats not an issue...either way go to Berkely it's such a great school and has more international repute than UPENN...

Let me give you my Honest opinion: don't study business, study economics or some hard sciences...you can MINOR in something business (either finance or accountancy) but there are still better options...Go to Berkeley OR UCSD

do you want to go to grad school after or get a job right away?

this post might have sounded arrogant but many people apart from myself don't give a crap about undegrad Business majors. If you wanna go business study ECON and minor in some business major (or math cuz math works w/ anything...lol)

OK well thats my opinion good luck to you you've got gr8 stats

yea grad school, then job, im thinking of business management rit now
but u never knw it could change after 1 yr of college

y also i prefer small schools berkeley is too big, but if i get in i prolly go

Well then he could try to get into the honors program, if not at berkeley then UCSD there class sizes are muuuuch smaller...If you want to go to grad school I really think business majors arent the way 2 go...what kinda work do you want to go into?
