HMM....boardingschoolreview.com is very deceitful.

im sure youll love milton. its all about fit, of course. you know when a schools the place for you! and its always nice when the admissions committee agrees.

Yeah, but to be honest, I was REALLY shocked that I was accepted. I applied late and the acceptance rates are really low. I am white and didn't publish a book or anything. I really don't know how I got in. I didn't take the SSAT (they don't offer it when I live) and I had a phone interview. It was weird, but I'm glad it happened!

JK - the schools that have any Saturday classes usually have class only until 11-12 noon on Wednesdays because those are interscholastic sports game days (as are Saturday afternoons.) I don't know about all those schools, but our son's school had Saturday morning classes (until about 11-12 noon) usually 4 times per quarter - which was every other Saturday although it was actually less than that. For boarders, the weekends with Saturday classes were not a big deal, other than having to get up earlier one more morning. He said it also helped the school community feeling and there were more spectators at the home events on those weekends. I wouldn't look at Saturday classes as a negative, especially if you are going to be a boarder.

Yes, but they're not an exception. The schools that have no saturday classes end at around 11-12 on wednesdays as well, because they all have athletic contests.

i currently go to choate, and being an hour away from nyc or boston isn't too bad. There is an international airport (Bradley) thirty minutes away. NYC is about an hour away, and there are plenty of school-sponsered shuttles. The Amtrack train also goes through the Wallingford station; however, the prices are a little steep. Wallingford isn't a bad town either. The area adjacent to our campus is a really nice and cozy place. Great cafes and cute little vintage stores, so don't cross choate off your list!

applegirls, can you comment on the town gown relationship at Choate? I have heard that it wasn't so good. Of course it was one person's opinion. Pleas shed some light

hahah.. the towns relationship.... i don't think this is just choate, but for any type of campus. the wallingford residents aren't very fond of us, but not hostile in any way. the local businesses of course appreciate us, but thats about it.

haha, it's the same thing for Andover. Most townspeople (especially the kids) look at us very negatively.

lol Farmington for the MPS girls, too. We're (mostly negatively) labeled as "Porter's girls" whenever we walk anywhere in town. Starbucks had a congratulations sign for MPS graduates this year.

Why?... ..

Jealously, resentment.

Chances are more than likely that most of the kids around the town a) couldn't come close to affording Andover or b) didn't get in

what the previous poster said is true...

andover high school is a very good public school, but some kids still feel jealousy towards the kids at phillips andover.

some "townies" stereotype all the PA students as "cocky, rich and spoiled" which is not true, at least for most of us. In addition, others were rejected that applied to PA, so they take their dissapointment out on us.

most of what goes on is in good humor
