Hi friends. For my transfer essay, I want to focus on the fact that my current school does not have a neuroscience major. My school only has a minor that doesn’t really include much actual neuroscience. Is transferring to a school with an actual neuroscience major a good reason for transferring? I want to write my entire transfer essay about this reason. Thank you!
Yes
@openr215s2 I would focus on not just transferring for that major but that is a good start. When I transferred to the University that was one of my reasons but I also mentioned the idea of a change in experience, a challenge, and an opportunity to grow as reasons why I’d want to attend the new university. Mentioning the fact that you’re college does have neuroscience is helpful but not the only thing. Making it personal to your university that you want to transfer to makes more sense. Since, many other colleges offer neuroscience too.
If you are sure that you want to major in neuroscience, and if the school that you want to transfer to has a good neuroscience program, then IMHO yes this is a very good reason to transfer (one of the best that I have heard).
Hi AKK@uofm. The fact that my current school does not have a neuroscience major is the central part of my essay. I describe how I become interested in NS and how my current school does not meet my academic needs. Because many other schools also offer NS, I included specific courses and ongoing research that I wish to get involved in. Will that work?
@openr215s2 Yes! That’s a great way to go about your “transfer essay”. Very similar to my approach and it worked for me. Good luck!
