Is this a little wierd?

I got into Washington University in St. Louis, Georgetown, and Emory. GW offered me a $15,000 scholarship. NYU Stern put me on their waiting list. I just thought it was a little strange that I got into 3 better and more competitive schools, but I couldn't make the cut for Stern. Any opinions?

check out some other threads, you are not alone at all, the process at many schools this year is all over the place

Are you going to GW? you have great options

Admissions are wack this year. Though I woudln't necessarily consider the others more competitive, because you gotta keep in mind Stern is probably one of the most competitive schools inside NYU, and NYU admits students based on school, so looking at just NYU's admissions stats will not got you a good idea of Stern's admissions stats.

Each school looks for certain traits in their applicant pool, and it just might be that something in your application caught the eyes of the admissions officers of the other schools, but not Stern.

Though talking about weirdness, some kid in our school (top 5% of class) got admitted into Yale but waitlisted at Northeastern. Go figure.

i'm leaning towards georgetown

since when is george washington university better than stern...?

stern is not the be all end all of schools, "better" is relative and in a context

Since he said three more competative schools, I believe the OP meant Emory, Wash U, and Georgetown as the competative ones and was simply comparing the amount of money GWU gave him

@h...838
ahh i see

cgm
yes, i realize. take another look at the 'context.'

hakunamatata838 is correct, that is what I meant, sorry for any confusion. I am not remaining on the waitlist as I have decided on Georgetown, hopefully that gives somebody a spot who really wants one.

^thank you dear kind soul for taking yourself off the waitinglist! :) haha although i'm not applying to stern, i'm sure a lot of other people are lining up to attend.
