Is this a smart move?

This is a hypothetical situation.

If I was deciding between UCSD and SDSU does it make sense to choose SDSU bc of the following reasons.

SDSU: Has a business major, D1 sports and football, party school, hot girls, business connections in san diego (where I want to live), great food.

UCSD: Doesn't have any majors I like, D2 sports, no football or school spirit, dull school, ugly girls.

If you were in my shoes which school would you choose?

I know UCSD is better academically, but I don't think it is worth it to go there.......I just want some more opinions bc I'm not really sure.

Thanks

It's your call. Fit is very important. You shouldn't be applying to a school just because it ranks high. You need to see yourself there. If you have bad vibes about a school, it will be 4 years you will hate. And that's not worth the thousands of dollars you will be spending. College is an experience, and the last thing you want is a negative experience, just so the name on a piece of paper at the end is different.

If business is THE major that you truly want to major in, then go to SDSU.
SDSU is strong particularly cuz of their business program.

However, if you arent' 100% sure that you'll major in business and has a possibility of switching major in the middle, then i'd recommend UCSD becuz really, don't underestimate the power of prestige and recognition... UCSD will bring you anywhere regardless of what you major.

*If you plan on further pursuing your education to Graduate Business School, why not major in Economics in UCSD? Economics major is basically the closest replacement for business, and they get the similar job, pay, and recruition.

and regarding party... really just because one schools is more reknown as "party school" doesn't mean they have better quality party or anything. ALL universities follow the same trait and throw parties no matter wher eyou go. Just because you go to Harvard doesnt mean you'll have no social life and be studying 24/7.

As for girls... UCSD.. SDSU... they are what.. 10, 15 mintues apart? besides, they are all San Diego girls. they're all same. And Really, how can you be sure that girls in SDSU are "hotter" than UCSD? Do they actually have a data shwoing the average rating of girls of each campus? As far as it goes, attractiveness is very personal, and just because many people find girls in one particular school attractive dont mean you'll find them attractive. Stupid reason really... Adcoms don't do like "oh, this girl is below the standard of our campus's average attractiveness, so we should reject her."

Business connection... cmon, same city. You are basically saying USC has better business connection than UCLA because it has business major.. it's pretty biased and ignorant.

But anyway, this is just my advice to you to not be so conservative on your views on UCSD. There are MANY MANY UCSD alumni who goes to top business school.

That's the move I was forced to make, when both UCSB and UCLA rejected me. So far i've been very pleased with my decision to attend SDSU. The girls are hotter, the parties are amazing, the finance program here is great.

I thought I heard UCSD was starting a business program?

MBA program. . . .

Okay thanks for your opinions.....I just wanted to see if some people see it my way. Thanks

My list is UMiami, UCSB, and SDSU.......Do you guys know of some schools that are similar to these?

If all of your reasons were true, they would be good reasons. But as has been pointed out, they are not.

Okay obviously ucsd has connections in san diego, but sdsu has stronger business connections bc many local coroporations are headed by sdsu grads. And since I'm not sure I want to go to grad school, a business major is better than an econ major.

Also UCSD has ugly girls......just check out theu.com, college prowl.er guides, the ucsd message forum and read what they say......also there are so many things about the girls there (triton eyes and jokes) you know there has to be some truth to it.

And I know UCSD has parties and stuff, but the school doesn't have a party atmosphere about it, and that is what I want.

Yadidimean Boogawoof...

Who GAF what the girls look like? Are you going to a party or a school?

go to SDSU if thats the case for the major and i think what would probaly be an overall better college experince if you feel comfortable there....in cases like this i wouldnt worry about the better school, rather the school that fits you better.

Go to USD if you're looking for the perfect combination of academics and hot girls!

For business jobs: In terms of wealth management where its basically a sales job, then SDSU.

If you plan on doing analysis type of work that requires quanitative skills then UCSD.

I couldn't make that choice. You'll have so much better job and grad school opportunities from UCSD.

you can always party at SDSU.
