I currently work on my college application essay. I am writing about how did art and a painter influenced me and changed me. I am not sure is this alright or not, because my essay is kind of philosophical and emotional. Mostly, I do mention how it changed me psychologically and how it inspired me.
Please tell me if this sound good

it sounds good. but dont you want it so sound great or spectacular?

reptil, thanks for your response!
Yes, of course I want it sound great and spectacular. I do work on it now, and I am trying to figure out what can make my essay unique.
But can you please tell me, does colleges look for an essay, that tells them about psychological development of their applicant? Is psychological development good topic to write about?

what do you mean with psychological development? did you have some kind of psychological disorder? or do you mean mental development?

I mean mental development

It’s really hard to say what admission counselors look at. When i spoke with my Yale admissions counselor over personal statement help he told me to “be myself”. Oh gosh, what a help if you can only imagine. :)

I personally think that you could really make something out of this topic if you play it right. My personal statement was along that motto - psychological development of course.

quinonez07, thanks)

yes, I think so, too.
My essay mostly tells about emotional things the art and that particulat painter have done for me. Yes, I do explain how I felt about it, and what have I learned, but I don’t know the charactersitics that I present about myself are enough.

I read many sample application essays, but I think that mine has something noticeable in it, and everyone would be interested in reading it, be it a classmate or admission officer.
I think so, because, I find it better when one’s able to show influenece that one did undergo through art, paintings and feelings.
