Is this an early indication of acceptance?

D tried to log into the myfordham student website to see what would happen and she was granted access..should she take this to mean anything? Has anyone else tried this?

How did she get into the website?

ohboi, the link D went to is below. Click on new user and based on your SS# and Birthday the system gives you an AcessIT code and your in…i’m wondering if all applicants are able to gain access to this site, the site doesn’t list anything regarding the status of the application, it gives you information to such things like the library materials at Fordham, and class schedules, course catalog, school announcements etc which is why I thought it was strange she would have access to this as an applicant.

https://my.fordham.edu/cp/home/displaylogin

It worked for me too. But under the “applicant” tab I see a link that says “Information for Prospective Undergraduate Students”, so I don’t think it’s exclusively for admitted students.

It sounds like a window to granted to applicants. If you want to check your status, call your adcom.

Ohboi - D does not have an “applicant” tab at all, she has a “home” tab and then within that tab she has different windows labeled “Campus Announcements” “My Calendar” “Fordham Spotlight” that has scrolling news pertaining to the school happenings “MyFordham Tutorials” “Bookmark Plus” with quick links to among other things Fordham student email, class schedule, course catalog, and social networking sites like Facebook and a “New York Times section” with the latest headlines from the New York Times scrolling along the bottom. Does your window have this? This is so baffling! I guess we find out for sure in about 4 weeks anyway! haha

fencersmother - I hope you’re right! Either way how exciting is this? i’m loving the whole process, I think a little more than my D is actually…haha

myfordham is a new system I believe, that accentuates the oasis system for present students who can access their accounts, sign up for classes and engage in blackboard with professors. I would not, however, presume it means anything. If prospective students have access to myfordham it is likely just allowing you to get a closer look at what Fordham has to offer. This question comes up every year.

Your notification will be made by admissions directly to you (the student). Admitted/Deferred/Denied.

In the meantime you can peruse the Fordham offerings and explore courses and programs etc.

Hang in there.

Yep - D “applicant” tab showed up and now she can’t stop going to the “Admitted Students” section and reading everything! I keep trying to tell her not to spend so much time purusing the website, I don’t want her to have a monstrous let down if she isn’t accepted, I wish she never would have found her way on there, why would they allow access to such a site and then deny you? It’s so strange to me?

care to share stats and scores? we can perhaps relieve some of the anxiety with a chance me response (though nobody here is official). Did she apply EA?

Its normal for kids to obsess about one or two schools. They all do it, either privately (and silently), or publicly and openly. Its healthy to have that dinner table talk about the what ifs: don’t be a downer, but simply say, admissions is quirky and even Harvard rejects 90% and that includes highly qualified kids. Focus on keeping your options open to many schools, and then suggest that its fair to wait and see what every school does and how much it will cost net of scholarships/aid.

All kids have a favorite and that is fine. Its your job as a parent to keep them calm, rational and prepared for the “process.”

the my.fordham.edu portal is available to all applicants. Access does not indicated, in any way, a student’s likelihood of admission.

Peter Farrell
Dean of Admission

Thanks Ghostbuster, you are absolutely correct and this is how excitement can shift in a lightening flash when it comes to teenagers, D received her first acceptance letter to another of her top choice schools yesterday. (The first really is the greatest feeling!) $15,000 merit award. She is so over the moon with that one she has forgotten all about the myfordham log in for now! So there you have it. What a crazy and exciting time this is. Just trying to take it all in stride :-)

Thanks for the clarification Peter Farrell - everyone is just so anxious for news but I’m sure you are used to that by now! haha…Good luck everyone!

How long after you apply can you access My Fordham?

How come i just tried to access myfordham and it said i cant? omg does this mean i did something wrong with my app?!?

So Mr Farrell, did acceptances go out first? It seems everyone that has received a letter so far is accepted, are the rejections yet to come?
