Does it look bad to have 2 study periods in one day? My school has 7 periods a day, and now my father has forced the school to give me a study, and to not take Law and Society elective anymore. Basicall this has been my course list for this year

Physics Honors
Orchestra Honors
Russian Literature Honors then Writing Workshop Honors this sememster
Senior Study
Sociology Honors then once that ended last semester, I started to Law and Society Honors last week, but now I changed to a study period
Spanish 5 Honors
Precalculus

How bad does this look to college? I would hate for the college to think I am lazy for taking two study periods, but my father literally forced this upon me. What should I do? Will Smith not like this at all? How much will this affect my admission do you think?

Thanks for the reply. My father is insiting on a study hall, becuase he thinks that electives like law and scoeity do not matter, and that I need to focus more time on studying for my core classes, instead of taking a “fluff” course.

Well, I think if you want to take Law and Society really badly, that might be worth arguing with your father about. But if your senior Law and Society class is anything like mine was, that class is basically a fluff class and if you need time to focus on your core schedule, you should do that. If it was between a class that is really going to bowl over colleges and a study period, that would be different, but colleges know that Law and Society isn’t much of a class. That’s why it’s only allotted one semester at most high schools. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I have weird scheduling, it’s block but all messed up. First semester I had at least one open period a day (80 mins), sometimes two. Now, even better, I have at least one open period a day, sometimes THREE. On Wednesdays I have three and a half consecutive hours of nothing. I’m going to go home and nap. Haha I’m so excited. I got into Smith, so I’m pretty sure they’re chill with opens (i.e. less courses) as long as you’re taking challenging courses.

Which you definitely have going on. Your schedule is plenty rigorous. You shouldn’t stress at all about that factor. Also, we should talk about Russian Lit together.
