So I sent my resume with videos and information to a college coach like 2 weeks ago. We exchanged a couple of emails and he seemed interested in signing me. He then asked for my academic transcripts but I hadn’t yet got them ( I live in uganda, int. student ). So anyway when they finally come through. I sent them to him and a week goes by with no reply. So I just called him a few minutes ago it was a very short phone call maybe 30 secs min. I ask him about the email and he says he remembers me, saying he saw it but just hasn’t replied yet. He said I should give some time that he saw it but just hasn’t replied yet. Then I was like ‘alright, thank you sir’ and ended the call. Will this come to fruition cause i dont.
It is hard to say based on your info, whether or not the coach is still interested in you. Coaches, depending on the year you are in school, the sport, the school division (D1, 2, etc.) and the time of year, have restrictions on what and how they can communicate with you. The coach may also not like to talk to recruits directly as a matter of personal communication style.
Too many variables for you to read that much into a short phone call. Just because it was a very short call doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad. I would give it a week or so and then send an email update if you don’t hear anything. If you have any reason that timing is critical for you, (school deposit monies due, visa issues, other school commitments, etc.) make sure you tell the coach, otherwise you will need to wait for updates on his schedule.
Well I just finished high school, I play soccer and it’s a D1 school. I checked the rules and it said emails were accepted.
I’ll give it a week like you said and then send an email update. I really wanna get into this school, and no other school, it’s ranked #2 in soccer in the US, has great players and facilities and at least 1 player is drafted into the MLS every year. It’s like the perfect school for me so fingers crossed.
If this is a D1 school ranked at #2, then it is most likely that the coach has already finished recruitment for the 2017/18 school year and even possibly for the 2018/19 school year. I don’t know when you are planning to apply, but I think it is possible the coach is not interested since his roster may already be full. In addition, if this school is so highly ranked, then recruitment must be extremely competitive. You might have better luck by being more open to a variety of schools and those in D2 and D3. D1’s start the recruitment process early and most have probably already filled their rosters for the coming school year.
