venture scholar (I dont really know what that means!)

Recommendations:
I think they will be good because both teachers asked me if they could write them because they thought I was one of their best students.

I heard Cornell looks more at the whole pic than just scores. they look for students that are a good fit. But, Are my sat1 scores way too low ???

The SAT scores are quite low, which is a huge red flag. Otherwise, especially with the fact that you're an African American, I'd say your application looks strong. I'd say you still have a chance. If it's not too late to get that SAT up, that would help.

Everything looks good, except for the SAT scores (especially math), and the SAT II math (which you should get at least 750 on, since you're interested in chem and physics). You've got a good chem SAT II score, which definitely helps. But yeah, you need to get those math scores up.

SAT scores are fine, and probably weight at most 25% of your APP. I had 1340/1870 and got in (ED), and they probably don't look so seriously on the writing.
Your ranking is pretty good especially in a huge school, and it's a plus since you spent your summer on academic activities, and your academic workload is awesome.
I do not know if not choosing Cornell for ED would hurt you though, but you should work on your essay so make it sound like you really want to go to Cornell and sound very serious or insightful (not boasting).
Just believe that you have a chance, and you'll be fine.

I think you're in. SATs aren't everything; your gpa/rank is good; extracurrics are impressive. and you are a URM AND a girl interested in math/science.

I think you have a very, very good shot.

How do you know she is African-American? She says she is black...not African-American...you're ignorant.

playhacker - what were you other stats and what school did you apply to?

You should apply for chemical engineering... easier to get in as a female, better jobs after college.

@charbzz

"national achievement scholar"

"In 1964, the National Achievement Scholarship program was initiated to recognize outstanding achievement among Black American high school students."

@collegebound

Unless you completely screwed up your essays, I think you've got a good shot at being accepted. SATs aren't everything.

how were you a national achievement scholar in january?

besides that I'd say you were in, the scores are not the best but everything else is in fine form.

You have an excellent GPA, but judging from your standardized testing scores, I was about to say "I don't think you have a shot".

That is, until I remembered you were a "black female interested in Chemistry or Physics."

And of course, that gives you a shot.

You seem like a pretty strong candidate besides your lower SAT scores.
