Is this going to be a problem?

My D was deferred from her top choice and was sent a letter saying new semester grades, recommendations, etc should be sent and "should be postmarked by Feb 15." I just looked at her application status and see that while they did receive her new semester grades by Feb 15th they did not receive her other materials until Feb 22nd. All of the info sent is sent by her hs guidance dept. She did go and check prior to the Feb 15th deadline and was assured they had already been sent.
Do you think this will be a problem and if so, any recommendations on what our next step should be? Thanks.

I don’t think there’s anyone here who is in a position to know if what happened will affect your D’s admission chances.

I also don’t think that there’s anything you or she can do about that possibility of her chances being affected by the paperwork’s lateness.

Ok …well then…guess it was a dumb question.

As someone who work in a hs guidance office, I’m going to say don’t worry about it. Our understanding is that deadlines that the student needs to comply with are firm, but that deadlines for the hs have some leeway - given that the hs might be deadling with hundreds of similar requests.

Also, they may have been postmarked by the 15th anyway - but just not entered in their system until the 22nd.

You might also want to ask the gc to advocate for your D, if this is something that they will do. We find that the largest and most prestigious schools are not too interested in hearing from us. But the rest will take our call, and in a situation like this, I would call, make sure they have everything and all deadlines are ok, and just give a nudge that it is still her top choice. We generally have good success with this approach. Good luck.

rockvillemom…thank you so much for your answer…it was very helpful and much appreciated. She did have her GC call and advocate for her so hoping that will help. Thanks again!
