Hang in there, kid. No sense in working yourself to a frenzy over what is done. Just keep pressing the admissions office with a sense of confidence that you are supposed to be admitted to the Academy. It was late April before our mid got his acceptance. You can only go forward.

Does your school give %, and what is the scale...7pt/10 pt. A C in our high school is an 84. My DS got a B in Honors English IV his percentage was a 92 ( I did say are you kidding me, you missed it by a pt?). Maybe the percentage is actually better than the actual grade. Now, if your C is a 74, I would go and buy some books and start studying. Since you said it was mid-term you are obviously not on a 4X4 schedule and you have time to buckle down and raise the grade.

From a parents point of view, my s has always had a problem with Pre-Calc and Calc, he was in honors and pull c"s in both, but his ACT for Math was 33, 670 SAT, and A's in statistics, discrete math, geometry...Algebra I & II were 88 & 91...it was and still is the only class he got a C in (83's = C in our school, but in a 10 pt. it would be a B)

In his nom interview he was asked why he got the C in Calc (we're 4X4 and he took at our community college) and he said I just didn't get it and the interviewer laughed and said neither did I. He still got the nom.

Take control and bring up the grades, you can't spend time worrying about what ifs, you can spend time saying I won't have to say what if, if I give 100%

I would be more concerned about AP Environmental Science, because at our school that is easier than Physics.

I don't think they ask for the midterm grades - if you receive an appointment and accept they will require you send a full transcript prior to Indoc. They may not be pleased with the C's especially in your Sr. year - bear down and bring them up this term. So, when they see the final transcript you will demonstrate that you can handle adversity and are determined to succeed.

My son had a C- at mid term his senior year too. Regardless of where you are going to end up (hopefully at KP) I would look into a tutor because it will really help you next year. Good luck and keep working hard!

"Hurt my chances..." of GETTING in? or of STAYING in?

Getting in ... it's just the start. I've knows some great kids who weren't ready (for one reason or another) and were set back ... And it is a growth opportunity. They weren't quite ready to attack the academics, or regiment(military side of things), or plebedom.. Or balancing the time between them. Something.

So, take the good advice that others have offered, sketch out a rigorous plan to master the concepts and workload... and keep fit (running helps handle stress) .. "and keep your room neat and do your own laundry :) [I threw that one in there for the parents]" That last part IS what you will be doing, however... and you DON'T want to be the one who asks if you put clothes in the washer or dryer first.... {yes... IT happened}

In short, Master you studies, Master your time, Ask for help to get these concepts down.

Best of luck to you. And if you are offered a year at prep school.. JUMP on it!
