Most people besides me who post on this blog are parents which I actually like because you guys aren’t as skewed with information as random kids would be. So my question to anyone who won’t mind telling me is..... What scores such as GPA ACT/SAT class rank and CFA did your kid get to get into KP. I have been working my BUT OFF and I just want to see if I am on the right track. Thanks to all those who share!!!! Also any of you who are kids like me you can put up your stats as well to compare.

GPA 3.77 weighted
GPA 3.4 unweighted
SAT about 1280 (not including the written part)
If I'm not mistaken, the cut off for application is tomorrow.
Really, helps if you are being courted by one of the sports or band.
Good Luck

GPA 3.0 (I don't remember if it was weighted or not)
SAT 1110 (back in the day score)
Eagle Scout + lots of other extra curriculars

They really take the whole picture at this place.

What do you mean by courted? As in recruited in a since? How do you go about doing that because if that were to happen for me it would be for crew. But I have sent several applications online to the coach and even an e-mail but I haven’t heard anything...? Any advice?

i'm on the rowing team, the coach can be hard to get a hold of, but he'll be glad to talk to you, we can discuss that privately if you like

i had a:
3.2 unweighted
3.7 weighted
SAT 1390
ACT 29
swim coach, athlete, church involvement, etc...

it'll start now... you don't play any instrument. you can't even play a radio properly... trust me.

Nor do you even know what an instrument is :) sorry, can't help joining in, it's tradition

Music? What's that? (I was waiting to see how long that was gonna take...)

Courted means being called by the coach. I had my son's prospective coach on speed dial. SeaKid--relax you're a JUNIOR!!!!!

I will relax when I am in those who relax are the ones who get passed by people like me! just my way of thinking :)

OK. I think I got it... and even though a period is just a little dot, it would have made a world of difference. :) Of course, I don''' t type so welll eITHer ;)

Don't listen to "registration is due tomorrow" crap.

I went through the process in May, 2 months before starting. Maybe I had stellar pull in the community or something...but I doubt it.

That place is so ass backwards. It's really a complete joke. I graduated a few years ago with no delays. Being out of there, I would have rather worked through four years of college and left with debt than to do it again. It isn't tough like people make it out to be. Indoc is easy. The cleaning crap is easy. The courses are taught by some terrible teachers. All the material taught it outdated and ancient, and i know because my first job was a sailing job.

I'd look at other options, seriously. Everyday was an annoyance. There is a man there, a colored officer, that is quite racist against anyone other than girls and colored kids. They even have an offical club "BKP". I am so so sick off all the ******** that people went through there. all my friends that got shafted left and right. All the losers (two kids turned in 6-week internship papers, identical (i know cause my roomate was on the honor board hearing)) and they got off the hook scott free. "a midshipman will not lie, cheat or steal" is the very way of life at KP. people will steal your jackets, comboniation covers, dvd's, food, etc. People even steal your laundry out of the machines...guess the price of socks has skyrocketed or something. They even have a thing were guys go around humping unexpected victims and laughing about it with no punishment.

Save yourself, look elsewhere. They told me when i graduated that If i didn't due my commitment i'd owe $170,000. That was not a 170k education. If it was, those teachers are WAY over payed. If i ever hit the lotto, first thing i do is hand deliver a check and tell them where to shove for their ****ty education.

HAHAHAHA you got humped thats pretty funny how cant you see that?

i got humped by my fiance, that's about it.
