I plan on taking 2 AP courses over the summer. AP computer science A and AP european history. I have no previous programming experience but I plan on self studying the basics of java programming before the computer science course (I hope this is enough).

Also, for those of you who have taken European history, is it really that difficult as most people say it is? What makes it so difficult?

Hey! Sorry, I can’t really give advice on the computer science (no experience with that).

But on Euro, what I can say is that what makes it intensive is the amount of reading. It’s a lot of reading. It’s not too tough in terms of deep critical thinking/processing skills (unlike math and physics), but you will have to memorize quite a bit. If you’re good at this, then Hallelujah! As noted in the AP Tests forum, “Euro and World both have a simplified form of the APUSH DBQ, so essay writing is not going to be a big deal in these APs. History APs are reading and writing intensive, so self-studying these courses are good humanities supplements to a strong AP science base.” So it’s doable. And you’ll have a full year before the AP test.
