I got a B in my dual enrollment class at my CC, but an A in the actual high school class. This means I still have a 4.0 in high school, however my CC GPA is now lower. Is this normal for the CC grade to be different than the high school grade on my transcript?
Well if it is considered out of a 5.0 GPA scale yes. Dual at your school might be considered equal to IB/AP grading which usually is out of 5.0
No I meant I got a B on my CC transcript, but for the same course on my high school transcript I have an A, is this normal?
Is this common at your high school and the cooperating CC? That is the question you need to ask. So contact your CC instructor and your HS guidance counselor and find out about it.
Ok I did, It is common, nvm.
Actually it is not that common. Every HS is different but it is more usual for the unweighted grades to match.
They always match at our high school. It sounds like your high school curves the final grade.
The unweighted grades don’t match at my highschool and my CC… its kinda weird. There are special CC assignments that dont count for the highschool grade. that’s why they’re different.
High school and college grading standards do tend to differ. Remember that most college students were 3.0-4.0 GPA students in high school, but they get spread across the 2.0-4.0 GPA range in college (some fall below 2.0 GPA and risk academic dismissal). So it is common for college students to have lower college GPA than high school GPA.
However, it may not be that common for a dual enrollment arrangement to assign different grades for your college and high school record, even though it could based on applying high school versus college grading standards. It may look a little odd to an admission reader, or pose a question if you have to recalculate a combined GPA including both your high school and college courses.
my kid took a dual enrollment class. A in the HS transcript – A- on the college transcript. .
His high school only has A, B C grades; no + or - added to them. Just found out his College transcript for that dual enrollment class was an A-. contacted the teacher; who said that while the work was considered A work for the high school, the college would have had it at and A-. So . . . we had two slightly different grades. It can happen . . . .

Our school works this way. HS grade includes homework, class participation, labs, etc. etc. The college grade is based on what is a more college-typical 60% average of three tests through the year and 40% the final.
The colleges offering each DE course defines Grade calculation 8n the course syllabus. They don’t care how the HS teacher does grading.
