Is this right?

I took the SAT last november, so a while ago. Recently, I learned that there was something funny with how my writing score was determined. I only got 3 wrong on the multiple choice, and but got a 72 as my multiple choice score. I know someone from the same date who got 2 wrong and got a 77, and I also know someone who got 2 wrong on a different date and got an 80. Did they make a mistake? A 77 to a 72 seems like huge drop for missing only one more question. If something was wrong that would be big for me because I have a 690 right now, so if I could get everything in the 700s that would be great.

your essay?

What does my essay score have to do with it? I got an 8 in any case.

Are you looking at the raw score or the calculated score? The calculations do differ between tests to normalize them so that scores from different tests taken on different dates can be compared.

Yes I know the curve varies with each test. But I know someone who took the exact same test on the same day as me. They got 2 wrong (raw score=47, calculated MC score=77) and I got 3 wrong (raw score =45, calculated MC score =72). This seems like a huge drop.

they may have had a different essay score...

or that person could be lying...?

maybe she/he omitted instead of got something incorrect. or else, yeah, they could be lying. on this site, we usually post the curve after the test is over and scores are out. why dont you look up the writing curve for your test and see?
