Is this sophomore schedule too demanding?

So I just signed up for my sophomore classes, and this is how it looks (classes graded on a 5.0 scale denoted):
Honors English 2
Honors Biology
Honors Chemistry (5.0)
Honors French 3
AP US History (5.0)
Ap Calculus BC (5.0)
Concert Band

Freshman year I have gotten all A’s. From what I’ve gathered, it’s split 50/50 on APUSH being difficult at my school. Some people say it was terrible, others say it was a breeze. Honors Chem supposedly has lengthy lab write ups, but otherwise isn’t too bad. Also, any insight on the workload of AP Calc would be appreciated. If anyone else has taken a similar course load to this, do you think it is manageable? Also, if I were to drop to an easier course, my first choice would probably be APUSH. Thanks!!!

For context a regular (very basic) sophomore schedule at my school:
English 2
Biology
French 3
US History
Math 3

It depends on your strongest subjects and of course the teachers at your school. For my AP calc class, the work load varies. It is heavy one week but none the next, but that’s solely because of my teacher. I’m assuming you took pre-calc, right? Check with people in the class now or with the BC teacher to see how it usually goes.
APUSH recently had that change in exam which makes it a little harder than in the past, but maybe as you said it’s 50/50 and depends on what teacher you get.
Are you going to take AP sciences in junior/senior year after these honors classes? Just wondering.

@fishgill I’m planning on taking AP Chemistry, AP Biology and AP Physics my junior/senior year

Do you feel comfortable with taking all 3 of those at once, or even 2 at once? AP Chem is the most demanding, personally. I felt AP Bio was the easiest of the 3 and had a lighter work load (that could’ve just been my teacher though), so maybe you could take AP Bio this year? I took it my sophomore year, then AP Physics my junior, and AP Chem senior. I would have been overwhelmed talking two of them at once because they all tested frequently in my school. Definitely look into the classes at your school specifically so that you can see if it would be manageable to take multiple at once.

@fishgill At my school, we take physical science our freshman year, not biology. Additionally, we have to take the regular course before taking AP… I’ve heard that AP Chem and AP Bio are a killer combo, so I’m not going to take those two together. I would more probably take AP Bio and AP Physics Junior, then AP Chem senior. If I decide that two AP sciences are too much junior year, I could drop down to regular physics 1, as the AP and non are run concurrently. Thanks for the advice!!

Your plan seems good for the sciences. Good luck!

wow this is crazy… this is actually my exact same schedule (currently a sophomore) except i am not in band and am in ab not bc. Honestly this schedule is, for me, really manageable. I am not drowning in work every night and have all a’s/ a+'s. you should be fine.

That is crazy!! Also, thanks for responding- I feel reassured about my schedule now @gormar099
