I wrote a practice college essay (I'm a junior in high school) about my experience on the Varsity Soccer Team. I contrasted the expectation and reality of playing a sport and making friends in high school. I then went along saying how I had social problems within the team but nevertheless, played the sport. I wanted to get the message "I will not let anything get in the way of doing what I love" to come across, but I feel like people would instead, feel sorry for me.

Will you guys read it and give me feedback? I think the piece is well written and I don't want to completely trash it.

PM me and my college counselor said most colleges get a lot of sports essays. But, you can PM me the essay.

If you think it’s the topic that speaks to you most and that you’ll be able to write your heart out about, then do it! If not, try changing your topic. And you can PM me the essay if you want.

xFirefirex is totally correct - you shouldn’t be writing topics you aren’t genuinely wanting to open up and write about. However, if that topic is really that important to you, just remember to not talk about being determined or stuff like that in your essay (that comes along easily when the topic is sports related) because your transcript can reflect it already. Show me your essay if you want me to help specifically

Be warned that sports can be cliche, or can work super well if executed appropriately. I’d be happy to read over it thoughif you want another set of eyes on it…
