Is Tulane possible for my son who is currently a high school junior? He is very interested in Tulane. I have some questions about him being a solid applicant for Tulane:

He is a double legacy. Both my husband & I are Tulane graduates. Does this help in any way with admissions?

GPA through end of sophomore year is a 3.5. He is half way through his junior year. He has worked very hard and has straight A's with a competitive course load of AP, Honors & College Prep classes. I expect that the GPA will have a nice increase at the end of junior year. How does Tulane view the GPA? Do they recalculate? Do they place more weight on the junior & senior grades?

Class Rank: He does not get the official rank until the end of the year. Should be at least in the top 20% or 15% out of a class of 400+. This is an estimate from his guidance counselor.

Scores: Based on the PSAT his current scores would be equal to a 1230 (M & CR). He has not taken the SAT yet. He is taking a prep class and will take the SAT in March. He has already taken the World History Subject Test with a score of 740 and the World History AP Exam with a score of 4. In May he will take two more SAT Subject tests as well as the US History AP exam. He wants to be a history major (pre-law).

Misc.: He participates in several EC's - Best Buddies, Junior State, Spanish Honor Society(this is by invitation), Hospital Volunteer (for three years), and Student Council. He plays one sport that he is very dedicated to in that he either plays or trains year round. He has been on all star teams as well as invitation only select type teams for his sport. He is expected to be invited to join the National Honor Society (per a recent meeting with his guidance counselor).

I would appreciate any feed back about my son's chance for admission to Tulane as well as any suggestions on how to be a stronger candidate for admission.

Many thanks for your advice and comments. Roll Wave!
