electrical/engineering major
my GPA hella low now: 2.89( not sure because Im out of state but around 2.85 to 3.0)
100 transferable credits( quarter)
Also , applied to LA, Irvine, Riverside, SC , CSUN, Cal Poly Pomona and SJSU
Give me some hope. Plzzz

Since you're out of state, you get lowest priority for admission (first comes CCC, then in state, then out of state) so your chances for all the UCs are pretty low, but for the CSUs you might get in. USC is not a UC so you being out of state does not affect your chances; but the mean transfer GPA is 3.5-3.7

You do not have high chance for either one. I do not mean to offend you but be blunt about it. Sorry.

USC engineering is hard to get into with that GPA you really don't have a great shot. The UCs have a minimum GPA requirement of 2.8 so since you are out of state and you are barely above you do not have a great shot there ether. Cal Poly Pomona will also be difficult I believe the only schools you really have any chance really are CSUN and SJSU and those will still probably be difficult.

I hate to piggyback off this forum but... Im applying to USC, a bunch of UCs and CPP for fall. Got in to Cal Poly Pomona but I would like to have UCSB and USC in the mix for choices. I have a 3.24 G.P.A. from a community college finished most the pre-requesites(save a physics class and differential equations) do some ECs, work and am hispanic and from a low income family if it matters. I applied under mechanical engineering for UCSB and open engineering for SC. I also recieved a form for UC Irvine's Transfer Fellows Program, should I take that as a good sign or is it just something they give out to everyt joe shmoe?

I should have also added that I am an in-state transfer.

bump! can anyone help me with this?

TheDude44 I think he has a great chance at cpp. letgoforward, did you finish all or most of the pre-reqs?

Yeah. Done all the pre-req and general education. How is my chance ?Im freaking out now. So confused to wait the decision

letgoforward--

As long as you meet the minimum requirements (GPA = 2.8+ and you have your coursework done) you SHOULD get into at least ONE uc campus. The UC's promise is to accept "all eligible students into the UC system."

Luckily, they were considering breaking that promise for fall 08 transfers, but as of right now it should only affect 09 transfers and onwards.

you're board name says it all--let's go forward...so best of luck :)

I know someone that got into calpoly pomona with 2.2-2.4 for electrical engineering/ caomputer science although he was an in-state transfer I feel that you will get admitted. their engineering program is not as impacted as their architecture program. As for CSUN and Northridge I think they are a bit more competetive than cal poly pomona for admissions although pomona is ranked way higher (funny, right?) UCs may be a little tougher and some (such as ucla - 3.2) have a minimum g.p.a. requirement; well at least for instate transfers. I hope your shot at USC is good seeing as I applied to the same school and have been told that my g.p.a. 3.2-3.3 is low for their engineering program. GOOD LUCK.

Well. I already got admitted to CSUN and Pomona. Im waiting for UCs. I didn't apply to USC. which one should I go in case or CSUN , Pomona and another UCs such UCR, UCSC or UCSB, Davis?

my gpa is pretty low too. it's around a 2.89, but i do take a lot of ap classes, do you think i am eligible for state schools..... such as sjsu?

letgoforward did you get accepted to sjsu? please answer me asap. thank you. im pretty scared right now, i seriously don't want to go to a community college and transfer. =/

i don't think csu schools look at your sat score... do they?

Not as transfers.

i think you can have a 2.0 and still get into SJSU
i knew people from HS got in with a 2.5ish
and transferring is much easier!
lol

I have a 3.7 GPA and am taking 3 AP classes this semester, however I am out of state and only scored a 27 on my ACT. I have not taken the SAT yet

My question was do I have a chance to get into UCSB?

Why did you bump a 2 year old thread regarding a transfer when you are in high school still? lol
