Is UMD's Early Applicant program only accept/deny, or could an applicant get deferred into the RD pool for something such as UMD wanting to see the applicant's 7th Semester grades?

Thanks!

I actually had the same question… does anyone know the answer?

I think you can get deferred but the 3 types of responses are Acceptance, Acceptance w/ Freshman Connection(essentially accepted for Spring) and Rejection.

I don’t think so. My school uses this website called Naviance and it basically shows all the acceptances, deferrals, and rejections for each school w/i the past 2 years. For UM only acceptances and rejections show up so i assume they give you a straight answer.

@namesss hm I just checked my school’s naviance too… you’re right.

Coola426 is right. There’s three types. Acceptance, acceptance with Freshman Connection (which essentially means acceptance in the spring), and then rejection. That website probably says that because acceptance with Freshman Connection is still acceptance! It just means you start at a different time but you still graduate with the class and everything like that.
Hope this helps! And good luck to everyone! Rumor is we’ll be notified tomorrow some time!!

I wish they did defer people, than I would I have a better chance at getting in. Ughh UMD!

@namesss what are your stats?

my GPA is 3.9 but I only have a 1540 SAT (CR- 520, M- 510). I’m also out of state so I am hoping that my GPA, essays, and recs can get me in.

Does UMD waitlist people?

I was curious about this too, so looked at UMCP’s Common Data Set (link below) and apparently 969 applicants were waitlisted in 2011 of which 0 were ultimately admitted.
