Is University of Wisconin-Madison difficult to get in??

I really want to get in to the University of WIsconsin at Madison.

I am an international student therefore considered as the out of state

student.

CAN ANY ONE GIVE ME WHAT I SHOULD GET ON MY SAT AND

what are the important factors for the admission???

I am really worried because I got low on SAT(1740)

And GPA of 3.5.

I really have good volunteer experiences and ECs. (200hrs.)

In addition, is Essay important factor at the Univ of Wisconinsin Madison??

I am retaking my sat on oct and planning to get higher than 1800.

THanks a lot for reading ~~^^

You need about 680+ on all sections of the SAT.

Essays are important for almost every US college.

If your ECs are really outstanding.. other than just volunteering.. then it might help you a lot.

It's not as hard as the ivies, but it's a very, very good school.

I agree that it is indeed a very good school, but I would say that if you apply early (Septemberish) with a 1300+ SAT and a solid GPA (3.6+) you will get accepted.

Retake the SAT and score atleast a 1900. Do very well in your first semester senior year incase you are deferred and UW requests those grades.

Probably the most important advice: apply as early as possible. I have a feeling you will be deferred, but if you do very well during your first semester, you will most likely be accepted. Good luck!

If I remember correctly, there is only one essay for UW and it has a very broad topic, so make it good. It could very well be a deciding factor in your admission. But, UW is a big school so GPA/SAT are the most important factors.

According to this, you have about 30% chance.
