Is USC a UC School? As in, is it impossible to get in if you're out of state?

I originally had wanted to go to school in California. Stanford is a little too much of a reach for me, and given the fact that UCLA and Berkely are really hard to get into for those who are out of state, I've ruled those out as well.

However, does the same apply to USC? Do they show preference for those in-state? Would I have a chance if I'm out of state (assuming I meet their averages for sats, gpa, etc.)?

USA is a private university and not connected to the UC system.

It's a private school, meaning it doesn't differentiate between in state and out of state.

USC gives no favor to CA citizens.

I have heard that *Harvard-Westlake** was one of the most prestigious high schools in California, with a reputation of its graduates getting into top tier colleges, but am not familiar with the other schools listed. The list above does indicate that USC accepts a lot of students from SoCal high schools.*

I wish that there was a single website that provided the net link to all colleges that provide this kind of detail Freshman Profile. I love this kind of data!

I go to Viewpoint and we send A LOT of people to USC as the list indicates. Our school has a very close relationship with USC and the vast majority of students who apply are accepted.

harvard-westlake is a very prestigious and top school. they send double-digits to many prestigious universities every year (see c/o 04 matriculation for example):
<a href="http://www.harvardwestlake.com/introduction/matriculation.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.harvardwestlake.com/introduction/matriculation.html</a></p>

all the other schools listed are very good too. most of them are located in wealthy and affluent suburbs or are attended by students that come from wealthy and affluent families, or if not, then it has a magnet program.
