I've read on the USMA forum that West Point will be requiring ACT/SAT writing scores for the class of 2012 and later. Any word or rumor if USNA will do the same?
Thanks

Having nothing factual to base this on, a reasonable assumption would be that the USNA will follow suit.

Air Force required writing scores last year; West Point added the requirement this year. However, the writing scores are just being collecetd and are not used as part of the admissions process.

If I did really well on the writing, (750 to be exact), would that help me out at all or is it a complete non-factor?

Writing is not part of the equation.

GA is correct -

While West Point required all candidate to take the writing portion of the ACT (it's optional) if they take the ACT - they are not using the writing scores as criteria for admissions this year.

They are simply collecting data for future use. This only affects candidates who take the ACT in lieu of the SAT.
