Is writing another essay on the Additional Comment a good idea?

I am applying to UC Berkeley and UCLA.
My first choice of major is material Engineering for both Berkeley and UCLA.
However, since UCLA offers second choice, I chose aerospaceE
I was kind of hoping to discuss why I chose AerospaceE for UCLA, but at the same time Berkeley will be reading it to,so idk what to do

No. That space is NOT meant for a trivial essay about why you chose one major over another. It’s meant for why you failed freshman year due to illness, or how your dad’s death had an impact on your grade, or things of that nature. Admissions officers will not want ANOTHER essay.

@anxiousenior1 thanks! I took the SAT 6 times do you think writing about why I took it 6 times is a good idea?

No. You only need to send your best one sitting score to UCs. They will not know how many SATs you’ve taken unless you send them all in.

If this is SAT 1, you have to report them all. UC only allows score choice for SAT2, since they are not required.

@Ballerina016 is correct, my mistake. Either way, there is no reason to write why you took six SATs.

The UC app specifically says not to make your essays location-specific, too.

You have the space, use it if you can. They are NOT to be continuations of other essays, but they are meant to write about things important to your or relevant to your application that didn’t really have an opportunity to be discussed elsewhere in the essay.

It is there for you to use and you’re not going to be penalized for using it. I had a REALLY difficult fall semester in terms of my class load and logistics of it all, so I’ll be using one the additional comment sections to talk about that. It gives me another opportunity to paint a picture of myself and make myself stand out more.
