<p>even though i dont think any cable lock will completely prevent your laptop from being stolen (see the wirecutters thing someone mentioned above), its still worthwhile to have one. but which is better, the kind with a combination lock (like the targus one i just bought), or the type with a key? im just wondering to make sure that i at least get the better of the two</p>

<p>how exactly does the lock work? i know there's a security slot on the slide and u can put ur lock in, but what then? anyone can still take ur laptop.</p>
<p>the lock gets "plugged" into the laptop, then wraps around your desk/bed, whatever, and then attaches back to itself.</p>
