Son accepted to all three. No money at UF, 10,000 at UMass and 12,000 at Syracuse. Anyone have any thoughts if it doesn’t come down to dollars, which we have considered?
Glad to see your son got into Syracuse! Congrats! My D also considered Syracuse. We visited last spring and she liked it better than she thought she would. We were impressed at the Whitman presentation, liked the Dean (she is English and is setting up having houses with in Whitman that will compete against each other through the year for the Whitman Cup ala Harry Potter) liked that they got the kids right into their major subject area courses early on so it would be easier to get internships. They had a good advising center and seemed to have good contacts for helping the kids get internships. She liked the school even though it was a little too " citified" for her.
As you know she has decided on UMass CHC. As an instate the money is too good to pass up (in addition to some merit aid we even got some need aid. Wasn’t expecting that at all!). i know rankings aren’t the be all and end all but another piece of the puzzle. I believe that on USNWR business school rankings, UMass is 36, Syracuse is in the 50s or 70s (can’t remember exactly).
Good luck to you and your son as he makes his decisions.
Are you instate or oos for any of them
Where does he want to live after graduation? If in the NY or Boston area, you may want to give a slight edge to UMass or Syracuse, even though almost 10,000 UF alumni live and work in the Greater New York City area (many of which are graduates of the business school).
Otherwise UF has slightly stronger (better rated) academics and social/quality of life.
We are OOS for UMass and UF. @ConfusedmominMA we did almost the same analysis. Looking forward to the Isenberg Accepted Student day. Gator88NE we actually believe we may all end up in Florida someday…that was the only reason he applied. The problem is that Warrington is not rated that high, but UF has such a strong alumni…oh, and did we talk about the weather???
At this point factoring in weather sounds like a really good idea. When will it ever be warm and when will the snow melt?!!!
Also looking forward to Isenberg accepted student day (hoping it will be sunny, warm and no snow). Will be buying sweatshirts and car decals too!
