Isis

I'm trying to sign up for classes through the ISIS system - however, i'm running into some trouble.

After trying to add a class, i saw the following message:

YOU MAY HAVE MIS-KEYED THE TERM CODE. PLEASE
VERIFY THAT YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT TERM CODE
AND TRY AGAIN

I know i typed in everything correctly. I'm in the 061 (Spring 2006) term. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I don't think you can sign up for classes until you've paid your deposit and gone through whatever orientation they have for spring transfers.

humm - i sent my deposit fee two days ago overnight express mail so it should have arrived today before 3 PM.

Also, i got a response for Dean Papovich saying that i could select courses as soon as my deposit posted...

I guess i'll just wait another day - i'm getting nervous watching classes fill up

what classes are you trying to get into?
My biggest fear is that if I decide to go to UVa I will be stuck with absolute crap classes for my first semester.
Does anyone know how many spring transfers A&S takes?

econ classes -

UVA takes approximately 20 to 30 spring transfer applicants

check on the course offering directory website for specific classes you may be interested in signing up for.

Oh, the joys of ISIS. Well, you can always to try to add into a class in person. (My memory could be failing me, but I think I was able to get into the classes I really wanted.) You can just show up to the first day of class (or even meet w/ the professor beforehand) to see if he/she would be willing to add you. You can show how passionate you are about the topic he/she teaches. (I would do some research on the professor and what he teaches and incorporate that in your argument. Professors love it when their students are excited about them and their class. It also helps if the class is for your major.) The professor might or might not add you, but it's worth a try...especially if you really really want to take the class. It might be harder though to get into a class if it's a tiny seminar since the class size is so small. But again, you never know until you do it. I read once that half of winning is just being there.

do you guys remember when your initial deposit cleared? i sent my check last week - it was delivered on the 8th and cashed most likely on the 9th. The check cleared my bank on the 12th - i'm just getting impatient... classes are filling up...
