Israel-I think they have every right

"How exactly would you measure how much Jews have been discriminated against another group of people?"

Hello?? Ever heard of the holocaust?

So? Armenian genocide. Khmer Rogue. Almost complete elimination of Native Americans.

But that wasn't my question. How do you MEASURE, as in quantify, how much Jews have been discriminated against compared to other people. You can't, it's just something people do to better identify themselves with a certain group. The old "my people have had it worst than yours mentality".

Dude Im not gonna argue with you, I know that Jews are the most made fun of, ridiculed, and blamed people on earth.

Well I think what really clinches it is that during the Holocaust the Jews lived all over the world. They were generally very successful and what not. When Hitler came he decided to not murder every Jew in Germany or even Europe, but the whole world. Hitler wanted to eradicate every Jew in every part of the world. This is uncomparable to any other genoicde in history. The holacaust was not the only thing. Go back in history to the Spanish Inquistion. How the Jews in Corodva were all murdered or kicked out. Go back to ancient times with Babylonia. Jews were constantly sought after. Even after the holocaust countries in Eastern Europe discrimminated against Jews greatly. The Soviet Union was one of the most anti-semitic countries ever. In Arab countries Jews were killed or kicked out. I just dont see historically one group of people having so much trouble as the Jews. Even now there are millions of muslims all over the world trying to kill jews and destroy israel. This is what this current war is about.

The current war is not about Muslims wanting to kill Jews. It's hilarious that you people in America manage to turn something as complex as the middle east into something so simple like a fraction to be simplified.

Are you sure about that?

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Thursday the solution to the Middle East crisis was to destroy Israel, Iranian state media reported.

Last time I checked Iran was a bunch of Muslims wanting to kill Jews.

LMAO@everyone mixing up countries in this thread. I don't think you people seem to get my meaning when I say the middle east is incredibly complex and contains a wide vareties of ethnicities, religious groups and sub groups with different motivations and goals. Most people here wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a Persian, an Arab, a Shiite Muslim and a ****tzu dog. With the amount of generalizations and the tendency for people to lump all middle eastern countries into a single entity with the same goals and desires is absolutely mind boggling. I sometimes wonder why you don't just call the entire region "Arab Land".

So you sincerely believe that Hezbullah does not want to kill the jews and destroy israel? This war is absolutely about the destruction of Israel. I do not see anyother reason for Hezbullah to attack Israel. Lets consider Hezbullah was in the right from 1982-2000, just for the sake of argument. After 2000 Hezbullahs mission of kicking Israel out of Lebanon was accomplished. So their orginization is now obsolete, there mission is done. But that is Hezbullahs true intention was to only kick Israel out of Lebanon. To find the truth lets look at Hezbullahs charter which states thats goal is to destroy Israel, and then lets look at Hezbullahs actions after 2000. Hezbullah continued to shoot rockets, kidnapp soldiers and civillians, and HHezbullah even grow a base in Judea and Samaria launching numerous suicide bombings. So Hezbullahs intentions really must be Israel's destruction. Now lets take a look at other orginization and countries that have fought a war or are at war with Israel. Lets start with Iran. Iran started their war with Israel in 1948 when it sent soldiers into Israel to stop the young country's independance. Iran continued to give terrorists that targeted Jewish civillians and Israel money. Such groups include Islamic Jihad, PFLP, and Hezbullah. Iran even claims it wants to destroy Israel. So that must mean that Iran's part in the Middle East War is to destroy Israel. Now lets look at Syria. Syria role in Israel became clear much earlier than Israel's independance during the British mandate period Syrians at the request of the country's leaders led riots in Israel murdering Jews. In 48, 67, 73 Israel fought a war with Syria. Each time Syria declared its willingness to destroy Israel. But dont take Syrias word for it just look at their actions. Their direct support to the PLO, Hezbullah, Hamas, Fatah, PA speaks clearly that they wish for the destruction of Israel. Finaally, lets take a look at Hamas. If Hamas' goal is not to destroy Israel but merely improve Palestinian-Arab life socialy and give the Palestinian Arabs a country, then after Israel pulled out of every inch of the Gaza Strip and even took the dead Jews out of their graves and moved them into what you would call "Israel-proper" Hamas would cease its terror ( I am assuming that Hamas is also in the right prior to summer of 2005) and help build a country by developing the amazing farming infrastructure Israel left behind. Hamas did not do so, yet it continued its attacks against Israel. This leads us to believe that Hamas goal is the destruction of Israel and Jews and ofcourse you can always read a terrorist orginization founding charter to get what theyre after.

Doesn't Israel want to do the same thing to the Arabs?

Holy crap, you are so dense. I just went into a mini-diatribe about how people like you simplify a complex issue into black and white and what do you do? Make it black and white! Incredible!

WOWIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE........this thread changed subjects fast. (and I like it)

Yes, Jews have (and are) been hated, persecuted, whatever more than most other races/religions in the world, but thinking like that doesn't help.
If I thought like that, i would have to look everywhere I go in fear someone gave me a 'dirty eye' or something and cry 'you hatemonger' in my mind. (I know plenty of people who think lke that)

Smoke weed everyday folks. That's my final thought for this thread.

Me? I just joined this conversation

Israel does not want to do the same thing to the Arabs. Simply look at their efforts for peace since 1948. The first official war between the Jews and Arabs was started by the Arabs over the creation of Israel. Look at some recent peace gestures by Israel to the Arabs. Lets start in 2000. Israel pulls out of all of Lebanon, ceding its sexurity to UNFIL. Again in 2000 Ehud Barak offers the Palestinian Arabs 80% of Judea and Shomrom, all of Gaza, all of East Jerusalem. In return for the promise of peace. The same promise that Arafat made and broke in 1993. Arafat declines the deal and instead launches the 2nd intifadah, and finally look at the summer of 2005 when Israel left the Gaza Strip and gave it all to the Arabs who took it and did not make peace, rather instead they created more terror bases and launched more rockets and attacks into ISrael.

Ok, I understand what you're saying. But what happened now? What made Israel seemingly all of a sudden change their way?

Israel didnt exactly al of a sudden change their way. Its general trend has been that Israel tries making peace. Its efforts are seen as aweakness and so the Arabs attack. Israel fights back and wins the war, and again tries to make peace. Israel attacked Gaza this summer because last summmer the expulsion of Jews from aza was arguably the greatest peace move by Israel in its history and it failed. So the gov't is really kicking itself in the head for doing it. In Lebanon the attacks were so harsh for a few reasons. One being they have gone on for 6 yrs since Israel left Lebanon, and 2 being that it came right after the attacks from Gaza so Hezbullah was really messing around with a ****ed of country and they miscalculated the response. Hezbullah leaders had said after this war started that they greatly miscalculated Israel's response and that they assumed they could get a lopsided prisoner exchange as usually occurs. From this you can see that Hezbullah became so accustomed to kidnapping Israeli soldiers and people and getting an unfair exchange in return for sometimes only the dead bodies of the soldiers that they would keep trying it again. This time it failed though, thankfully.

I think that Israel just wants to be left alone. My sense is that most people in Israel want to be like western countries that sit around all day worrying about the economy. Having bombs dropped into your country is not good for business. So why provoke someone else to fight you.

Well if they wanted to be left alone...they sure aren't going about it the right way

Can you identify a time when Israel intiated military action without provocation?

Well, they started this time because of some kidnapped soldiers...but can you imagine what the world would be like if a war started everytime something like that occured? What I'm trying to get across is, they held off for so long...why was this time different?
