Anyone applying for next summer? Any advice or stories from past attendees? (:

Also, anyone know how competitive it is? Compared to, say, Clark Scholars or SIMR.

I think I might apply, but I’m not sure if I have even a minimal chance, considering I’ve never won any science awards (couldn’t make the deadline for Siemens this year, and met other complications with STS. Sigh), I only applied to UCs (on the app. they ask what colleges you applied to / have been accepted to, and I saw most past applicants go to top schools like MIT/Yale/Harvard, so I’m guessing it does matter how prestigious the schools you apply/go to are…?), and this semester I’m going to end up with a B for sure in both Physics B and Calc BC (possibly a C in calc, please god don’t let that happen! I’ve gotten straight A’s for the past three years though and won’t get my Sem. 1 transcript until late February… Still probably going to screw me over.)

But the program does sound really cool.
Will have to beg my junior yr teachers for more recs…

I googled ISSI and there seem to be a lot of programs with that abbreviation. What program specifically are you referring to?

Oops, sorry!
I’m referring to the Dr. Bessie Lawrence International Summer Science Institute; it’s a 4-week program open to current HS seniors.

Great program! I did it last year! Did you apply? And/or get in?

No, I didn’t apply :\ Wish I did…

For future years’ applicants, could you tell us a bit more about your experiences about the program, what you liked/disliked, etc?
