it is possible to contract HIV or another disease via a worker at a restaurant

Today I went to a ben and jerry's ice cream store. I got my ice cream and after I was done I then noticed one of the two employees working there had tracks all over her arm. I thought possible heroine use tracks. Then I investigated her more and she had really broad shoulders and was really skinny. Kinds as if she was once bigger and lost a lot of weight. So to me I automatically think to myself, Heroine use and that may imply Aids or HIV.

Now she did not serve me, though she was there before and after I ate. I just had a Milk shake. Though what worries me is her prior touching of materials before i arrived, such as ice cream, cups and spoons/scooper's.

Like i said before she had red dots all over her arms and had a band aid on one of then towards her wrist. She in general seems like a happy person and didn't look high or out of it. seemed pretty normal during observation. I then called her back about a hour later and straight up asked her. i told her that I noticed the rash on her arms and the bandaids and she told me that she had once had congestive heart failure and those were just for blood transfusions and lines and the the band aid was a burn. I don't know if I necessarily believe her, as I don't think that injection sites would be spread around like that and im pretty sure they would not scar like that. the scars just looked like red pimples, but obviously they were not pimples.

So I am kinda worried, and don't really know what to do. Ive read on the subject on the internet but that has not really clarified much.

I mean is it even plausible that HIV(or other ailment) could be contracted via a worker that handled materials in a store and then I consumed them. I just dont want to have the feeling of impending doom for the next 3 months, I aleady have enogh problems with anxiety.

Thanks all in advance, I know you guys can make me feel better,

Yep. You could have it. Of course, the probability is absurdly low. You could have sex with an AIDS holder and have a very good chance of being clean.

AIDS - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to this you have a 5/10000 chance of infection when "Insertive penile-vaginal intercourse" occurs.

There is an almost implasable low chance of you contracting HIV from this situation. I would say impossible, but I have no medical degree to back this up. It is a misconception that STDs can live outside the body for any period of time. This falls into line with the belief that people contract HIV from toilet seats, which is not true.

HIV is not in issue
Disease transmitted by food workers are Hepatitis A and some of the bacteria that cause gastroenteritis like Salmonella

Unless the worker bled into your milkshake, you're safe. AIDS/HIV cannot be passed by any means other than the passing of bodily fluids (not including saliva) except mother-to-fetus, and even that isn't 100% certain. Don't worry about it.

and even if she did bleed into your milkshake, your stomach acid would destroy it.

and i think the HIV virus can only live for maybe three to seven seconds outside the body. i dont remember the exact number, but its low.

people tend to overestimate their risk for HIV. like mr payne said, the risk of infection is very low. there is a reason you probably know very few people with AIDS.

I cannot believe I just opened this thread. I do not know how I wilol get through thanksgiving food.

OP, you are one hell of a hypochondriac.

Goldshadow, I know. I also have quite a severe anxiety disorder.

I am sorry Vince. I am sure you are alright.
