It looks like some schools are already reporting transfer slots.

For Harvard:
Transfer Students
Total number of transfer students who applied: 964
Total number of transfer students who were admitted: 85
These are new stats.

Once again, the collegeboard is not accurate. Additionally, Harvard is still deliberating over applicants; this is obvious because the interviews have not yet occurred and letters are usually mailed in late May/early June.

Woah... 8.8% acceptance rate!!!! Unbelivably lowest I have ever seen. That is so cruel for many transferring students. The applicants who decided to apply are probably near 4.0 and finishing the Harvard application would take them a long time, too like getting many letter of recommendations or so on...

What is the evidence that college board is not accurate?

My guess is that Harvard has determined the amount of slots it has available, and has released the information to th college board.

That schools, including Georgetown, have explicitly rejected such numbers.

And...

common sense...

I doubt it. You are better off calling the admissions office and asking.
When the numbers for last year were released, several students - including I - called the admissions office for verification and they denied the numbers' verity.

I did not apply, so I could not care less whether those numbers are true; however, one should take the collegeboard numbers with a grain of salt.

What are you talking about? If this were true, then Harvard is actually being generous this year.

Collegeboard nubers are almost never correct but they are not off by too much.
85 is definitely tentative and is probably either the targeted number by Harvard, or worse - an estimate by the collegeboard. The committee doesn't meet until may to decide the fate of all applications.

It took me two days to prepare the application. Getting recs took me less than 5 minutes altogether. It is dealing with rejection what's tough, not applying.
Everybody presumes that the pool is self-selective, which is almost never true. I know of many people from community colleges that have applyied, including some sub 4.00s. All but 1 of them will probably be rejected if Harvard operates like it has in the past.

I have almost accepted the fact that there is no way that I get accepted. Also, Harvard is not sadistic for rejecting applicants; applicants are masochistic for applying... :)

Yeah, but we also have to consider that there was a lot of hoot and hollering last year about potentially dishonety coming from the admissions office on matters such as prereleasing decisions ect..

haha so true...
Harvard still hasn't put in my check yet and I'm hoping they've lost it so I haven't wasted 70 bucks on their application

Aaaah don't worry they'll cash it ;)
Mine cleared on 03/28... Which means that they got to my application about 2 weeks ago.

you have to remember that every ranking and those huge college info books are always a year behind. my mom works for collegeboard and i know that they just recently updated their website for this current year (2005-2006). i think tuition rates might be for the coming school year, though.

"I have almost accepted the fact that there is no way that I get accepted."

what?! you have like perfect stats

Martinibluex, I was stating my own opinion, it is true to me that 8.8% is the lowest I HAVE EVER SEEN and getting in there will be super competitive. Also, i'm comparing that 8.8% with other acceptance rates I HAVE SEEN... OK! You, however, compared that 8.8% acceptance rate with the acceptance rate last year in Harvard but that is not what i'm referring to; again, i'm saying that 8.8% is the lowest acceptance rate I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!! <<< You can't prove me wrong on that because it is 100% true that 8.8% acceptance rate is the lowest I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!

ALso, about finishing up the application and getting the recommendations, you might just do it within minutes, but that DOES NOT mean everyone can finish that quickly as you did!!!!! Your sample for supporting your point is ONLY YOU and you generalize that everyone can finish the applications that quickly as you did. Therefore, you are making a hasty conclusion.

Anyways, end of discussion! Peace!!!! I should not waste my time or your time to argue some non-sense stuffs; i'm not even making an argument or persuading anything but you make it like a debate...
Now, you probably thinking about quoting the some of my saying here and start your verbal attack again... fine, just go ahead and do it if you have nothing better to do!

Note: This board is for helping others; not about arguing about some unneccessary trivial topics.

Kevin101: No man, it's peace :)
I just regard anything from Harvard >7% as a miracle.

Matm1: How do you know that these are new figures? Did the collegeboard change them recently?

Yes they are new. It used to be listed as 55 accepted. It is still listed as 55 for U.S. News and World Report.

Too bad Harvard admitted 79 students last year...
