<p>What exactly are the difference between these two majors? I personally am interested in computer science as a field (AI and stuff), rather than a job oppurtunity, so is CS more for me?</p>
<p>CS is programming and research.</p>
<p>IT is implementing current technologies for any reason. both have pretty much nothing to do with one another job wise, except that all the stuff IT guys use is made by computer/electrical engineers/scientists.</p>
<p>You can think of it the same way as a Mechanical Engineer and a mechanic. The mechanical engineer designs the Car, but the mechanic fixes and implements the devices made by the engineers.</p>
