It's Library Shelfie Day! Post Your Fav Home/Office Book Display!

I follow a lot of literacy accounts because it’s my day job, but today is Library Shelfie Day! Post your favorite book spot in your home or office!

Unfortunately, I’m WFH today so I can’t take a pic of my multiple tall bookshelves that are my pride and joy at my main office…

Since I’m not at work, this is library shelfie is in my home office - my sons old room. He was/is a full fledged HP Fan - in fact 2 and 3 are missing because he has them at his home rereading for the umpteenth time!!!

Not a shelf but my reading nook and book basket

Favorite reading spots count!

Too many bookshelves in our house. I know we should probably purge these, but this is one of the things I find very difficult to give away.

Family room has floor to ceiling bookshelves in one corner - has albums, coffee table books from all over the world, recipe books etc.
Basement has floor to ceiling bookshelves with books - fiction/non-fiction. All kinds of books - romance, bestsellers, mountaineering books (H loves these), sports related books etc.
Both kids’ rooms have bookshelves filled with all their favorites including Harry Potter, Rick Riordan series etc.

We are going to be redoing our sunroom this spring and I have been talking to the contractor about building in window seats - curled up on a window seat in the warm sunroom with a book is my idea of heaven!

I can’t give away books either and we also have bookshelves everywhere. I’d love to turn H’s office into a proper library some day but I don’t think it would be good for resale. I have already talked to the contractor about a built in bookshelf wall in our basement (we’re finishing it this summer). There will be a reading nook in the basement bedroom for me. I can’t wait!

Here’s the small built in my D’s room

Sometimes I think about what our house would look like if my wife had her kindle book collection in paper. But I don’t think about that for long because it would likely involve hiring a contractor for an addition. LOL

Best effective organizing tip ever!!!

Definitely the case here. I posted pics of my library on the Downsizing thread. One corner, though, contains our son’s childhood library (and his teddy bear).

When he moved out, I conveniently forgot to pack those for him…

Yours are all so neat and tidy - mine is not at all. But there’s actually some semblance and order to what appears chaotic (themes of books; themes of dvds and themes of cds) - tons of artwork, my own and my daughter’s, and a few odd trinkets to prove how we really are in our household!

I think this is cool! It’s busy and there is a lot of it but I think it’s got an Indie bookstore vibe to it!

Thank you - you described my house. Although the bookcases are the most “cluttered” I like being around things that have a purpose or meaning. And color. Must have color.

I’m in the process of clearing stuff out for a move. I’ve (sadly) taken cars full of books to the town book recycling bins. My bookshelves are getting barren.

The realtor I’m working with suggested that I leave all the antique books in place, so I don’t read these, but they look cool.

Not to be a creeper but old Childrens books are often sold for a good price on eBay - wonder if the one in your shelf is part of this series….

Cool! I’d love to know what some of my books are worth.

Sorry…no nice bookshelfie pics here. The best thing that ever happened to us was the Kindle…and the library.

A relative has several thousand books that will need to be dealt with at some point. All paperbacks. I swore I wouldn’t do that to my kids.

The only books we have here are a collection of Christmas books that will get passed on to our kids if they have kids.

We do get real books as Christmas gifts…but we read them and then pass them on to others to enjoy.

We do have a bunch of old paperbacks but D loves reading from our “library” and discovering some of the old classics and fantasy series. We’ll pitch them eventually but they are fun to have while we have the space.

I have a collection of our sentimental kids books - the ones D loved and ones that were gifts from special family members. I hope our grandchildren will love them some day.

Two more bookcases like this one on the other side of the room. H hates the Kindle and I only use it when traveling. We really enjoy reading hardbacks.
