Hi guys, I don't want to smash your hopes and all but I just woke up to an email from my regional adcom which had the following line:

[quote]
This year has been an especially competitive year due to the large increase of applications we have received, so we are still working through them.

This was sent less than an hour ago. True, this could be Chicago's typical habit of not telling anyone until the last moment but it just occurred to me that we've been thinking all along that the decision is on 12/15 4PM EST because the offices close then. When if instead, the offices are closing then because we think its 12/15 4PM EST and because they don't want a horde of angry parents asking why decisions weren't released on the same day and time as last year.

Yes that makes total sense! Except for the fact that if they don’t release the decisions today, then they will probably have more phone calls tomorrow than they would have a 4 PM today (why not just close down until decisions are released?)! Yay for bad reasoning! YAY!!!

I guess we’ll find out in ~7 minutes. Also, please stop spamming this in every thread.

@motion12345: Yeah, but why would an adcom just lie? Unless he/she seriously expects us to believe that in the 1-2 hours from that email till 4PM EST, those decisions they’re still working through will be miraculously completed.

If I recall correctly, last year they said the same thing srrinath (they actually had a whole blog post on how they didn’t have the slightest clue when decisions would be out, and then they were out hours later).

Yeah, but people tend to behave irrationally on the spur. They don’t go all let me wake up tomorrow and launch into an angry diatribe against the UofC.

Guys honestly speaking, I’m all with you in hoping decisions are out in a couple of minutes. Heaven knows I can’t wait any longer. It’s just that the large volume of apps does make what’s being said possibly true.

Haha, too many people are trying it out. Anyway I think the email comes when your decisions are uploaded. I personally haven’t gotten anything yet.

i dont think it’s in alphabetical order, because my last name begins with a J. Anyway, good luck to everyone and I hope you get in. I’m going to wait a few hours, play some madden, and then check again when everyone else has found out.
