It's time for my brother...

My brother is a senior right now and...just like the rest of America...he is in college-application-frenzy...and I'm wondering what schools he should look at as his potential reaches/matches/safeties. Here are his approximate stats:

Weighted GPA (through the end of JR year): 4.25
Unweighted GPA (through the end of JR year): 3.75

Schedule: 3 AP courses and 9 Honor courses through junior year / 4 AP courses and 1 Honor course his senior year.

SAT score: his best score is 2130 - 800 M, 660 V, 670 W / He retook the new SAT and I think he has a shot to pull the verbal and writing scores up to 700 range.

Extracurricular Activites: A lot of music-related stuff...some clubs...overall solid but not spectacular.

Recommendations: I'm assuming good-very good (he always had a good relationship with teachers).

He is a prospective business major...and he is thinking about applying ED to UPENN Wharton. Also, he is applying to UCHICAGO, Michicagan, and some low ivies (Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth). Personally, I think Wharton is too much of a reach with his stat. What schools should he look at realistically?

Wharton is a big reach without outstanding ECs. Higher SATs would help, too. He's probably a good shot at Cornell and Mich and Stern would be a match.

Agree with suze....your brother has a good chance at Michigan & Cornell.

Agreed that Wharton is a big reach. Brown and Dartmouth are reaches as well. Cornell is probably a match and so is Mich. Stern, though, I think is more of a low reach.

Realistically, if business is his thing, he might want to also look at Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Lehigh, Penn State - University Park (Smeal), and University of Maryland - College Park (Smith) among others.
