Are there many Vietnamese in here ? Hope not just 5 as ngohuongly told me.
Please tell what city you are from, where you live now, & where you applied to.

let me start.
I'm from Hue, living in LA, applied to some UCs & private schools.

This will be an interesting thread. I'm ethnically Vietnamese, though born in Geneva, Switzerland, living in Singapore and will attend Princeton in the fall.

hi you guys,
I'm from Ho Chi Minh City. I'm taking A-levels and living in Croydon, England now. I apply to Yale and a number of Liberal Arts Colleges in America.

which LAC's? also finaid? Anhanh

I live in the Netherlands. My parents are both from vietnam, but they are actually chinese, but born in vietnam. I feel myself as a dutch, vietnamese and a chinese:P

I am planning to apply for class '10, i am aiming for the Ivies, Oxbridge and top LAC's. If this fails, then a dutch education remains, which also is very good, but nothing compared to America!!! My American Dream

Hey, there a Vietnamese going to Princeton. Congratulation Cevonia !!!
How did you move to Singapore from Switzland ?

anhanh: U live in England? Thats so great ! Do you go to stadiums frequently ?

"Ho Chi Minh City" , I'm not allowed to say this in LA. There is only Saigon. IN my school's library, some of the vietnamese books are from Nha xuat ban Tre TPHCM. You know, they cross out the TPHCM.

Trinya I live in the Netherlands too! I was born here, but I'm going to study in the US in the fall. I've already booked my ticket, August 6! I've applied to UC Irvine, and if that's not going to happen, I'll go the community college in Santa Ana. My sister already lives there and is attending that college since last year. We'll do anything to live in the US huh! I'm not going to study here, I'm kind of getting tired of the dutch people:p j/k

Hey thibi_men, where do you live in the netherlands? I live in heerhugowaard, that's nearby alkmaar. Have you only apply for UC irvin and santa ana? What were your testscores? and what for "middelbare school" education did you have? Why did already booked you ticket? when you're not sure if you will be accepted?

I want to go to america, because my nephew in america went to harvard, a niece went to berkeley. And they both said it was great. I hope I will next year grant a place in a US college

good job twitb, I have never thought of a Vietnamese thread. now we know there are more than 5. I wonder if ipsen and duncanctc still check this place. well, hopefully they do and they will join us.
about me: my name is Ly, I am from Ha Noi and am currently living here. do you guys mind telling me your name and your sex? :)
i'm applying to mostly top LACs, also Princeton.
cevonia: congrats! I'm having an interview this Sat with a Pton alum. I know I don't stand much chance at Pton, but well, it's so great and I keep my hope.

to trinya: I apply to Yale, Williams, Swarthmore, Middlebury... :d I also apply for financial aid. If you consider applying to Oxbridge, do try as they are one of the best universities world-wide. Many students in my Alevels colleges successfully got addmitted by Oxbridge and are doing their best to achieve the required grades. As the tuition fee plus living cost is exorbitant (£ 19 000 per academic year) some are looking for sponsorship from British and international companies. But I know they're gonna have the best 3 or 4 years of their life in the 2 cities and universities.

to twitb: you may be surprised but i have never actually entered a stadium to watch a football match though London have the prestigiuous Arsernal and Chelsea. Don't know why I'm not into football or field sports after seeing Brazil's defeat in World Cup 1998. My friends told me Old Stratford in Manchester is great.

thibi_yen,trinya: Some students in my college are going to Holland during Easter holiday. I adore every kind of flowers in that ' small but beautiful' country, but it's a bit late for me to apply for a visa now :(

To anhanh
the tuition fee for me to oxbridge is 1100, but the living cost is killing me. I dont havae 10000 Euro. Can you give me a few example of companies wwho can support you?

Also did you only apply to those 4? No safties?

So happy to see a Vnese thread. Hi Anhanh! I hope you know who I'm rite.
Anyway, a guy who is definitely from VN, born in VN and both parents are VNese. Having study in England, Croydon (Used to be senior of anhanh :D), I had gotten a place at Imperial but I couldnt take it coz of the huge tuition fee (old story for many VNese kids). I'm currently taking a gap year in Vietnam, working around and seeking for girls :D. Applying for tons of Unis and LAcs, all with Financial Aid. I have got acceptance from 2 schools but they are both not my first choice, with a very generous aid though (almost full aid). I did 1 Ivy only Dartmouth, and one other same level: MIT. I intend to read CHemeng at Uni, but I still apply for tons of LACs coz they seem to be more generous :D. That is all about me :D

lol. any luck with the girls? :D and we only talk to each other here, rite, though we do meet elsewhere (i think i know you :D)

lol! A series of insurections has arisen against the will of CC's admins :D First, IIRC, was Chinese, then Indians, Canadians and so on... Now it is the demonstration of the Vietnamese nationalism :D

Recently I've been more concerned with the happenings in MIT box, so not checked the Int'l box as frequently as before. Oh my...I have the feeling of drowning at the bottom of Mariana Trench >_< The air is too dense right now :(

I think you will see me more often after the end of next week. My lifepath will surely have been decided by that time :)

Bye for now :D

@Trinya: apply to Balliol, Oxon, please :D
@Huong Ly: I am still here, but not as your concept of "here" :D

trinya: it's great that the tuition fee for you in the UK is only £ 1100 as your country is a member of the EU. So go for Oxbridge then!!!
Duncanctc: of course i know who you are, big brother. I don't think you should accept the offer of the 2 colleges. Just imagine being in a male-college for 4 years and look back at your personality :P definitely not your type.
I chose a Univeristy in MA as my safety :d but i'm not sure if i stand much chance as competition among Vietnamese, not to mention loads of other international applicants, is so tense :(

:) It seems that my adventure to the USA has ended tragically :)

A glass of water -> about as cheerful as normally :D

why, ipsen? they haven't sent out the decision, rite? anh i know you have a great one waiting for u in UK. by the way, thnx for calling me Ms :D

@Anh: how is your LSE? Er, which Univeristy in MA did you apply to?
@Ipsen: I'm waiting for MIT as well. Did you get anything from them then? So, Will you go Balliol next year? Anyway, good for you if your family can afford this huge freaking 17.000 pounds tuition fee at Oxford. :P :D

Many vietnamese students coming to US have to go through community colleges then transfer to get a lower tuition fee, hic hic. I'm lucky I can take out loan.
