@jthecanadian: every information is shared here :P

I got rejected by MIT,yesterday. It's just so tough to get MIT. They have international students to compare with recent immigrants like me. I'm just no match for them.
to Ipsen: Don't be so sad man.

pooka: hihi welcome my schoolmate :D, no, collegemate ^^ whatever ... i'm sure you'll receive good news from America next week :D Your stats are definitely better than mine

twitb, duncan, ipsen: my commiseration to you all :(( MIT is too tough and it has a quota for undergraduate applicants from other countries. Its Economics Department is excellent and prestigious, but I didn't apply to MIT as I was deterred from its policy and pretty sure about my chances :(. Many of my friends who are very bright and have great potential were rejected by MIT. They were accepted by other unis/colleges, ended up in those places and had no regrets at all.
So keep up hopes ^_^

ngohuongly88: You were also interviewed by Weleyan university, i guess :D ah do you know two Hanoi girls having nearly 1600 SAT1, are you 1 of them :D just out of curiosity

The two girls got over 1500 in SAT were Chi Mail (A1 Ams) and Hoang Lan (Hoa Tong Hop). Their scores were 1580 and 1500 respectively. I felt normal when getting the letter from MIT. Haha, I had predicted what happened b4 the letter was coming :D :D :D

lol :D

To commiserators: Thank you all for great words :D I don't think I am currently drowned in sadness and grief and anything belong to the line of "Bad status" :D MIT is tough and also it is a school even if I dreamt of getting in, I'd not be able not to understand what the yield would be (what a sentence :D)

@anhanh: well, no sort of geographical quota as this year, 9 Canadians got accepted while just last year, 2 did, methinks :D

@twitb: thanks for the encouragement but I am safe now :)

@cevonia: so envious of your successes :D

@_pooka: it seems I found your trail :D

@anhanh: duncanctc has already answered your question :) i were interviewed by wes (your smile makes me think you have viewed our pix :D)

@Duncan: Dr Wood still mentions u sometimes. Stats class has become even more like a social meeting, i.e. we chat half of the time and lessons usually end 30 mins early ^^

Commiseration to twitb and duncan. I'm sure u'll have (if not already) other equally great choices.

@ipsen: glad to see u still remember my birthday ;)

Thnx everyone 4 the warm welcome :p blows kisses

:D Oh my, is that the me-known _pooka? :D

yah!!!! where have all VNese ppl gone? On holidays?
@anhanh: how's ur Wellesley app? I got rejected :( <sobbing n="" wailing=""></sobbing>

I'm not an international student but Vietnamese. I was born in the U.S. but my parents are from Vietnam. I'm going to University of Florida because it's cheaper to go to an in-state school and the Bright Futures scholarship will pay my tuition fee.

hi there music4life waives
Does that mean u don't qualify 4 fin aid? Coz there must be tons of schools that are need-based, at least for American citizens

Hello pooka,
Well I'm recieving some financial aid but the reality is for a student to go to an out of state school is ridiculously expensive. My decision to go to an in-state school includes several factors. I don't want to put the financial burden on my parents when they are also supporting my sister who's going to medical school and my brother who's going to law school at emory. Also I'm recieving a scholarship called Bright Futures that pays 100% tuition plus $500 per semester for a Florida public school. University of Florida isn't a bad school I believe it's ranked 51 and is in the top 30 for the college of business. Thus, even though grants or financial aid is given it usually doesn't pay enough...plus the bush administration is cutting down the amount of financial aid available to students...now that's a political issue, I won't go there :).

ngohuongly88: congratulations!!! You're one of the two Vietnamese Freeman scholar this year.

Hi guys, Im a Vietnamese studying A lvl in S'pore now..It will probably be my turn in 2 years' time:)..thinking to apply to some Ivy league or at least top 10 of liberal arts in US after my A..
To Huongly: R u from Ams? One of the 2 Vietnamese Freeman scholar last year was my classmate:)..

oh, this thread is alive again. I don't check it quite often now so sorry for this late reply. anhanh, thnx a lot :)

@tbhams: i ask about you in the other thread but now I know :) i'm not an amser. But the other scholar is. Are you talking about Khanh? She just wrote me the other day. May I know your name?

@all: Who will meet me in the US fall 2005? :D

Might as well answer ur question in juz 1 topic:)..I'm Tung..And yes, it was Khanh I was talking about:)..I won't be going to uni yet coz i accepted the scholarship to S'pore so they made me go through O lvl and then A lvl:(..It means that I will be 2 years late compared to the rest of my batch..btw, wat school do you come frm then?

Lol Tung !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Know who this is?
Well, how's Luu doing?

@huongly: im wavering between LSE and Smith. 70% chance of meeting u in September ;)

@tbhnams: I think there's nothing to frown upon :D I will go to colleges with lots of ppl who're 3 years older than me :D My school is Chuyen Ngoai Ngu.

@_pooka: i'm sorry but what is LSE :( but if you choose smith, I'm sure I will go down there. It's said that campus of all-female schools are always beautiful :)

to _pooka: hehe, still no clue who you r:)..But prob one of my classmates in UK since you noe Luu:p..She is quite ok..I think she's quite hapi with her new school:)..
To Ly: hehe, easy for you to say:p..But heck, I'm here already so might as well be hapi bout it ah:)..Maybe i'll be ur jr at Wesleyan in 2 years' time:p..Who noe:p

@huongly: LSE = London School of Economics & Political Sciences (damn long name)

So u see, i dunno whether to stay here or go to the US. But since the US school seems more generous, i'll prob end up there ^^
