IU Early Action Acceptances - Class of 2025

15 days between acceptance and Kelley notification for us, but I’ve seen anywhere from a week to a month. Of course, there will be a delay because of the holidays. You qualify for direct admit, so try not to worry about when the notification comes.

My daughter has been admitted to UMass and IU, too! She is an education major with an interest in early elementary.

As an IU alum, I’m hoping when the “IUSAYSYES” envelope arrives there will be some merit aid inside.

We are in MA and I couldn’t get my son to apply to UMass! He just got accepted to IU and I am an alum so I am excited!

Congrats! That family connection would be fun.

My daughter applied at the deadline and heard last week. We just set up her email. My question is - how did you find out about merit? Their set up is odd, sort of antiquated in how they notify you… She’s gotten several emails including an invite to the SSA. But nothing about merit or Hutton. She is in the Hamilton Lugar International School. Her GPA is 3.9 UW, 4.6W, 32 ACT SS - so i’m sure she’s getting $$. Thanks

My daughter’s merit came in her physical letter in the #IUSAIDYES envelope. She received it about two weeks after the portal showed she had been accepted. She still hasn’t heard from Hutton though was asked to apply for Hutton SSA, which is only available to Hutton students.

do you set up your email if you got accepted but are waiting for other schools to reply? And for anyone who has filled out the general application for scholarships, can you copy the supplemental essay?

when you mean merit, does that mean the dean scholarship or something else because I only got the dean thing so far.

My daughter received her red envelope today. When do folks typically get informed of whether they have been admitted directly to the Media school? Also, how are you informed about whether you have been admitted to Hutton Honors?

My daughter just got an email about getting a dean’s scholarship. Is this different than SSA? Can you get both?

yes it is and yes you can, but to get the SSA your daughter shouldve filled out the general scholarship application on one.iu before november 1st

Daughter just got an email - no letter yet - with a Dean’s Scholarship and $10K. Stats are 4.56W, 3.9+ UW, 32 superscore, 9 AP + one DE.
Just got the SSA app yesterday - and it’s got a general app attached. Was nothing said b4 about Nov 1st on that - but well just do both.

IU is very expensive OOS vs. Miami, SC, and especially Alabama - hoping more $$ come. My daughter will be in the Hamilton Lugar School (International Affairs).

yeah it dosent say nov 1st but i asked a current student about it who got selected for the SSA and she told me that i needed to have submitted it by nov 1st to be eligible.

do you set up your iu email if you got accepted but are waiting for other schools to reply?

Was that email after the “Congratulations!!” email or contained therein?

The decision came Dec 17th. Then tonight we got this email with the subject line:

You have earned a scholarship from Indiana University Bloomington

In the body it says, You have earned the Deans Scholarship in the amount of $40,000 over four years ($10,000 per academic year), based on your outstanding academic achievements and residency status of nonresident .

So now to the SSA to get more money. My daughter is hesitant to do it - because it requires you to get two recommendations. That’s not the issue - they have that on Common App. So why doesn’t IU take them from there? You don’t even send them in to apply. When I applied to college, I had to get a teacher to do a recommendation for each school - so kids have it easy. As I told my daughter, teachers and others understand the process, are happy to do an additional one for you, and if IU is the place you want to call home then that’s not a reason to not go there (that you are afraid to ask for a letter). But honestly it is silly since they could easily have gotten them from the Common App.

Good luck to her - I totally agree on the recommendations, they are already piled in there. Hate to be an old fogie, but I remember typing my apps on a Smith Corona with whiteout lol. These kids have it so easy!!

White out - I forgot about that. Yep, all the time - and if you laid it too thick, you couldn’t type on it.

U of SC Honors and College of Charleston both allowed you to use the letters from Common App. There must be a reason - but yes, these kids have it easy. I know it’s uncomfortable to ask teachers - but if you explain what it’s for, it’d be fine. My daughter literally isn’t applying to the Arizona Honor College because of this. She’s like - if I go, i’ll just be a regular student. Crazy.

Will the IU admissions team be working this Tuesday or are they gonna be off for the holidays?

The SSA recommendations are meant to speak on the different aspects of the student, one for academics and one for leadership.
