I know that Georgetown has a better reputation, grad school placement, and internship opportunities. For someone who plans to stay in the Chicago area for work, would the strong Chicago connection of IU and a similarly rated B school make up for or surpass GTown's advantages, in context? My dad works in upper management finance in Chicago, and he says IU would be better.

I'm just deciding whether it's worth it with the time-consuming GTown application, if a safe school in IU would be higher on my list.

Additionally, would this situation apply to other East Coast schools like UVA, or Duke econ?

Did you end up applying to Georgetown EA?? Or will you do RD?

I think, with your stats that I’ve seen on other posts, Georgetown would be better. Check out the link out: https://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/edu/rankings/us?trk=edu-rankings-ctg-page.

IMO, Georgetown would open up so many more doors for you, not just domestically, but internationally. It is a globally recognized school and it seems as if the business school is a bit under-rated by Bloomberg and US News. UVA is definitely more regional than Georgetown but it obviously has a bigger reach than Indiana (DC, Charlotte, probably Philadelphia and New York) rather than just Chicago and smaller midwest cities. Duke Econ is probably the same as UVA Business(remember that at UVA you have to apply for business after 2nd year).

Notre Dame goes very far nationally especially in the Northeast and Southern California. Even more so in Chicago.
