IVC vs SCC vs OCC vs Saddleback?

Obviously getting a 4.0 GPA involves a lot of self-dedication and hard work. However, which of the following, IVC, SCC, OCC, or saddle back sets you up best to do so? Are there any differences in the rigor of their honors programs? Ones with better professors or easier classes?

use ratemyprofessor to find easy profs – this is going to vary on a class by class basis at every school you attend…doesn’t matter which CCC you attend. Also don’t waste your time with honors programs, just get your 4.0

look to see what the honors program offers. At some you get to enroll early in classes, and that alone would make it worth it!

Taking honors classes lets you be around the best students at your CC. “Research shows that 70% of California’s 2.1 million community college students neither earn a two-year associate degree nor transfer to a four-year school in six years.” says https://www.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-kirp-california-community-college-graduation-rates-20180822-story.html I’d rather be around the top students that are on their way to success.

Also if you are thinking of transferring to UCLA then the honors program is required for TAP which gives preference in admission to the College of Letters and Science.

One of the criteria for transfer admissions is “Participation in academically selective honors courses or programs.”

I would definitely encourage teh OP to pursue the honors program at a juco.

You can look up in ASSIST.org to see if any have better coverage of the major prep courses for your desired major at your target campuses.

Depends on your major. For computer science, for example, the other 3 programs are much better than IVC. Maybe you can try to go to each campus and see if you like it. Talk to some students there.

I choose SCC. There are the least students, the campus is incredibly gorgeous, the parking is the easiest, and the teachers are awesome. In my opinion, it was easiest to stand out, to be a big fish in a small pond here… Don’t listen to the guy who said don’t join the honors program, that’s honestly terrible advice. lol.

Did this person say they were only applying to UCs? My advice stands. I’m probably the only person posting in here that was admitted as a transfer to multiple t10 schools.

OCC is probably the easiest overall. IVC has great teachers especially for math. Eliminate Saddleback all together
