on and PSAt I made a 232. I know I have a slim chance but ever since I was accepted by Rice, I have high hopes (since Rice is a uber competive school)

please reply :(

anyone have a pair of die?

top 5 high school? Exactly where are those ratings?

I think you have a 50/50 chance. Your scores are quite competetive for Penn. On the other hand, since you come from a competetive school you are expected to get scores above 1400 anyways. So you have a 50/50 chance. Wether you get in or not will definately be determined by your personal statement. There is nothing else to do but to wait. Just don't think about it too much.

Which school did you apply to? do you have aim?

How could you have gotten into Rice already? They have ED I and EDII, if you got in by EDII, then I think it doesn't matter if you have a chance at Penn or not, cuz...you're already binded to Rice.

So I notice that you didn't mention the Rice part here. But you posted on the other board. And he/she is already in at Rice...O.o.

Rice has interim decision...also, the poster mentioned they got into Rice in one his/her reponse posts

what high school are you talking about? and where did you get that ranking from? I would love to know where stuyvesant ranks

Brooklyn Tech is much better. :-P

stuyvesant>hunter>bronx>brooklyn is my impression

I wouldn't place Hunter anywhere near up there. :)

I would. :)

They send more to the Ivies, percentagewise, than any of those other schools (and 10% to Harvard last year).

of course they do, i was there for 7th and 8th grade, they curve grades like crazy

It's by US News. The rankings are done by the number of APs taken in the school and how well do students do on them. Our school is very different from every other high school. We have 6 majors in humanities and math/science. Our school is small and selective and students go to school for 9.5 hours everyday. It's called the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

The only down side to our school is that we don't have electives. So our school is kind of weird. And yes, I'm sure MANY NY public and publics high schools are EXCELLENT institutions that are top 5 but we're #4 soley based on our excellent AP records. I don't think anyone needs a ranking to prove the worth of their schools. The only reason I even mentioned it was because our school curriculum and such are very different from every other school. However, it's kind of weird. Even though we don't have sports teams or the science club or whatever, many of our students get into Ivies and other great institutions. So, I agree with an above statement. I have a 50/50 shot, which is better than no shot at all.

I think you have an awesome chance. But, just so that you know, a lot of people applying to Penn have even BETTER stats and ECs. Don't feel bad if you don't get accepted. I'm sure you'll end up going somewhere great!

Grade curving, not fair. APs aren't the sole measure of a school's performance...flawed methodology.

lol my dad believes that ranking is wack too. unfortunately, its the only thing my school has to offer that makes its students pop out a little and colleges seem to like it. I would have enjoyed joining more clubs and sports team though.
