I attended a Hopkins college visit at my school this fall and I just loved everything the admissions rep had to say about the school.

So I'm wondering, how selective/competitive is it really to get into? I know it's like this amazingly presitigious school and everything, but do you know what exactly they look for in an applicant or what they'd like to see specifically?

JHU:
Number of early decision applications received: 997
Number admitted under early decision plan: 447
% ED JHU Accepted: 45% (Duke 41%, Northwestern 43%, UChicago 45%, Cornell 35%)

Acceptance rate wise, it may be "easier" to get in via ED since less ppl apply and that is where the bulk of the acceptances overall come from, it is highly competitive, and Hopkins' ED acceptance rate is comparable with school of similar caliber.

You should ask this in the Hopkins forum to get a more precise and exact response to your question.

Perhaps SATs are better way to tell how selective JHU is. The 25th and 75th percentile run about 1290-1490 for CR and math total. Definitely among the 20 most selective universities in the country.

Biomedical Engineering and Premed, it's one tough **** considering it's #1 in the country. You need to be HYP level to even think about applying there.

The rest is considerably less selective, but still quite difficult.

I remember the OP… she was class of 09, same as me and in the end was deciding between Brown PLME and Yale. Safe to say she had insane stats and probably got into JHU easily.
